Buick meant business when they rolled this 1970 GS out on the streets.
Dressed in triple black this GS is mean. Under the hood is a 455ci V8
backed up by an automatic transmission. This GS is optioned with A/C, AM/FM

Buick sent this 1971 GS out to the streets to win the muscle car war. Under
the hood is a 350ci V8 with 4bbl carburetor mated to a 3 speed automatic
transmission column shift with a 3.08 rear gear. Inside is a sandlewood
bench seat and interior. Treat yourself to air conditioning, tilt wheel,
power steering, power brakes and AM/FM radio. This car is a numbers

1970 Buick GS STK 1409
With all the original parts still present and accounted for on this numbers
matching GS Stage 1, restoration merely involved rebuilding and
reinstalling the original engine, then returning each of the individual
components to as-new condition. Every finish was exactly duplicated, from
the front spoiler to the trunk wing. The engine bay looks at least as good
as it did the day it rolled out of the assembly plant (and probably
better). Every detail is correct, from the shift markings on the firewall,
to the stampings on the various parts, to the belts, hoses, and clamps. The
455 cubic inch engine runs ferociously, springing to life with a snarl from
the correct dual Exhaust system. For a
big block, this one sure likes to rev, and you'll want to wind it out
through all four gears with the 4 speed manual any time you get the chance,
just to hear the song it sings. The original heads come with the car and
are ready for installation if total pedigree is what your looking for.
This bright silver paint is about as sinister as they come. As a high
dollar investment grade car, no expense was spared on the body and
paintwork. Extra care was used to retain the original panels and then
straighten them to as new condition even the hood is believed to be the
original piece, as bright silver paint can be seen in the deepest corners
of the scoop. The condition of every component is further proof that this
car lived an easy life. Two stage urethane was used to finish the car, and
it looks spectacular in the sunlight. There's enough metallic to make it
glitter, but the silver is so rich that the term 'bright' does not
correctly describe how deep it looks.
Inside, you'll find the most spectacular original GS Stage 1 interior
you've ever seen. Look at the detailing on the seat pleats, and you'll know
these are artists seat covers. The steering wheel is an original piece,
restored to new condition and not a reproduction, although we cannot
confirm that it this car was originally 1 of 55 GS Stage 1 4 speeds it
doesn't seem all that improbable that the owner would have wanted the much
rarer manual transmission.. Does it hurt the value of the car? Not a bit.
Documentation, as you might imagine, is extensive. We have all the photos
from the restoration, which also shows the vital casting numbers and
stampings that you can't see any more now that the car is assembled. We
also have the build sheet, which is a nice bit of history. We have a pile
of receipts for all the restoration work. Then there's the experts, which
say of this car that it was one of the cleanest, most authentic and
original GS Stage 1's they have ever seen, and one of only a handful that
still carries the numbers matching 455 cubic inch with the 4 speed.

Osborne did the frame, trans, rear, engine, ran all the lines and wiring,

When GM lifted their ban of engines larger than 400 cubic inches in
intermediate cars, the Buick camp responded with a legendary piece of
muscle car history. The GS was the go-to for anyone who put equal emphasis
on pure comfort and brute power. This Sloan-documented 1970 GS 455 is the
beneficiary of an extensive frame-off restoration which has already claimed
some significant awards. Accolades include a Concours Gold First Senior
award at the 2012 Buick Club of America Nationals.
While Buick's GSX made its presence loud and clear with two strong color
options, the GS455 went about things in a slightly more sophisticated way.
This GS 455 wears a refreshing mix of fresh Burgundy Mist and Glacier White
paint for a refined appearance. Only the functional hood scoops hint at the
cars performance capabilities. All brightwork has been polished or
replaced, including the showroom fresh bumpers which were rechromed by

White interior from Legendary Auto Interiors offers new carpet, bucket
seats, door panels, and a taut new headliner. Presentation is great thanks
to details like freshly rechromed center console trim and a new steering
wheel. Upgrades include a full Custom Autosound stereo system with direct
The stock Buick 455 was a strong engine, offering a factory rated 360 horsepower and 510
lb. /ft. of torque but this GS takes things to the next level. Lift the
hood and a deceptively stock-appearing bay hosts a fully rebuilt 470ci
Buick motor full of high-quality parts. Built by Tri-Shield Performance,
the block hosts pieces like Diamond forged pistons, Eagle H-beam rods, and
a TA cam. At the top, a ported stock intake works alongside ported and
polished aluminum SE Stage 1 heads to help make a stout 507 horsepower.
Behind that powerhouse, TH400 automatic transmission rebuilt by TSP spins
power back to a 12-bolt rear with versatile 3.31 gears. At either side,
headers connect to a 3-inch dual Exhaust system complete with an X-pipe and
Flowmaster 50 series mufflers. To the rear, a new Quantum fuel tank and
RobbMc fuel pump keep the big Buick properly fed.
During restoration, the frame was sand blasted and painted with an
industrial urethane before being joined by all new suspension components.
Power front disc brakes and rear drums provide plenty of stopping power
while a fully rebuilt power steering system ensures confidence through the
corners. The chassis meets the road through new Wheel Vintiques Buick Rally
wheels wrapped in Goodyear Polylgas tires.
Offering a near-perfect blend of show and go, this award-winning 1970 GS
455 is a great reminder of Buick's performance heritage and a resounding
"Yes" to the old slogan, "Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?"
