Friday night at qualcom stadium racelegal.com 1/8 mile drag racing the night before the 2012 monster jam san diego monster truck races.great to see this very nice 1963 volkswagen beetle and the 1966 volkswagen beetle drag racing. 1964 saw the introduction of a widened cover for the light over the rear licence plate. Towards the end of 1964, the height of the side windows and windscreen grew slightly, giving the cabin a less pinched look: this coincided with the introduction of a very slightly curved ("panoramic") windscreen, though the curve was barely noticeable. The same body appeared during 1966, with a 1,300 cc engine in place of the 1,200 cc engine: it was only in the 1973 model Super Beetle that the Beetle acquired an obviously curved windscreen. The flat windscreen remained on the standard Beetle Volkswagen Beetle, officially called the Volkswagen Type 1 or more informally the Volkswagen Bug, is an economy car produced by the German auto maker Volkswagen (VW) from 1938 until 2003. With over 21 million manufactured[6] in an air-cooled, rear-engined, rear-wheel drive configuration, the Beetle is the longest-running and most-manufactured car of a single design platform anywhere in the world

The classic Volkswagen Beetle competitng in the 2012 Historic Touring Car Championship is being campaigned by Just Kampers team member Ian Brown. After the qualifying session we let Ian and his 1300cc air-cooled VW Beetle catch their breath before asking Ian how the session had gone... "This is only my second race in two years, and its my first race at Silverstone, so it took a few laps to get a feel for the track. The historic tyres were brand new so they offered very little grip during qualifying. With my first lap I posted a time of 3:05 but by the end of the session I was very satisfied to see that I had been able to get this time down to 2:54. I'm competing in the 1151-1300cc class and I was really pleased to qualify second in class with an overall grid position of 34th (out of 47)." Interestingly Ian's car is fitted with 2.5" Drop Spindles which lower the VW Beetle while maintaining the correct steering geometry. Raising The Metal Mulisha Monster Truck
2012 monster jam san diego the Metal Mulisha party in the pits driven by Todd Leduc watch as two very big tow trucks from aneglos towing lifts this 10,000 pound monster truck in the air. The son of legendary off road driver Curt LeDuc, a top level racer for more than 25 years, Todd LeDuc entered the world of Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam after achieving a lot of success of his own in a variety of motorsports platforms. After LeDuc's high school graduation he started racing downhill mountain bikes, winning two US national titles and at one time was the number one ranked rider in the nation. In 2005 LeDuc followed his dad's career path and started racing off-road trucks on short courses and in the desert where he continued to add to his resume of success. A longtime fan of Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam, LeDuc has a great friendship with Lee O'Donnell and several other top monster truck drivers and jumped at the chance to finally strap into a 10,000 pound monster truck and take another major step in his motorsports career.
