S13 Top Speed And Engine Failure
testing top speed of 200SX S13 1.8 turbo
CA18DET ... blown engine at 240kmh (actual GPS verified speed - rear tires
were bigger than stock)... conrod broke in 5th gear at 6400rpm (at top
speed and peak power) and was launched trough engine block... on german
autobahn, ofcourse... ;) ;) ;)
btw... the car was bought for some spare parts, we knew the engine was not
that good, but checked all the fluids...after the engine blew it acctualy
didnt matter, I really dont like CA engines anyway... right now i have 3
S13's (1 CA i 2 SR) and 1 build S14 SR...
Datsun 120a F2 Cherry Coupe - Today
**PLEASE TURN YOUR VOLUME TO MAX** A couple of years ago I realised that my
first car, a Datsun 120a F2 Coupe, was the only car that I've ever really
liked or wanted - So after a 20-year gap I've managed to buy and then
restore another, matching many details to try and recreate that original
car. It's been a lot of work but has turned out rather well, with a vehicle
that is a vast improvement on my rusty original. This is a short film
showcasing the car as it is today - one of only a few still left running in
the country (UK).
1978 Datsun 120y (B210) Coupe. MX5 1.8 vvt engine
280ZX front struts converted to coilover and 280Zx vented disc brakes. Axle
is Ford English shortened with plated LSD diff and Quaife shafts converted
to 114.3 Datsun PCD. rear brakes are RS2000 spec 9inch. 250lb front
springs, leaf springs have extra leaf fitted plus axle has tramp bars.
Engine is standard Mazda MX5 apart from modified plenum to increase volume
and ported intake runners. 150ish BHP
I sold this car in 2013. i do miss it but i need to finish off my F20c
powered Honda S800. hopefully a video in a few years time. should be fun.

A retro and distinctive Datsun Sunny 140Y Coupe with just 44,576 miles from
Halogen headlamps, wrap-around indicators, full side trim, chrome wheel
centre caps, chrome door mirrors, plastic moulded bumpers, tinted glass,
wall to wall loop pile carpeting, luxury cloth upholstery, reclining front
seats, sculptured rear bucket seats, cigar lighter, quartz clock, three
speed wiper and washer, large size console box, twin sunvisors, front
headrests, rear seatbelts, rev counter, push-button radio, heated rear
window, rear window openers.
Finished in sublime Datsun Metallic Brown (code 810), this incredibly rare
Datsun boasts a rich deep shine. The paintwork is in exceptional order
throughout and all the panels are original with no rust or corrosion
whatsoever. Scuffs to the side panels have been repaired so there is a
very slight difference in colour shade on close inspection. There are some
minor touch repairs to the paintwork on the bonnet and tailgate. These
imperfections do not detract from the overall wonderful appearance and this
car will stand proud at classic car shows. All factory tinted glass,
lights and badges remain in perfect condition, as have the bumpers which
have no damage or fading. A beautifully preserved example.
Luxury cloth upholstery with sculptured rear bucket seats are tastefully
trimmed in Caramel colour scheme which is in flawless unmarked condition.
The matching loop-pile carpeting follows suit with no discolouration,
although the pile has worn through in the drivers footwell. The factory
fresh dashboard and door cards with faux carpet trim are outstanding and
complete this time warp 1980's Datsun interior. All switches, gauges and
functions operate exactly as the manufacturer intended, including the
standard fit push button radio. The colour matched vinyl headlining is
tight, unmarked and perfect. The boot area is spotless but the gas struts
no longer hold the tailgate. A plush and inviting interior, worthy of the
Japanese renown for functional quality.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Powered by the ultra-reliable Type A14 four cylinder overhead valve engine
achieving 80bhp at 6000rpm. The engine is remarkably quiet and smooth and
delivers willing performance, thoroughly capable in today's modern driving
conditions. The 4-speed, all synchromesh gearbox is light, precise and
seamless in operation. Classic motoring made easy with Datsun
dependability installed as standard at the factory!
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Original pressed 13in steel wheels are shod in quality Falken 155/80 R13
tyres with excellent tread all round. The wheels are in excellent
condition with no damage, although a previous refurbishment is evident.
Power assisted disc brakes up front with self-adjusting rear drums provides
the car with ample and steady stopping power.
Registered new on 10th October 1980 by Datsun Main Dealer Harry Kitchener
Ltd of Bedford to first owner Mr G Purr. The original purchase invoice
shows a part exchange from Mr Purr of his Morris 1800HL Princess for the
trade in price of £1,800 against the purchase price of £4,177.36 for the
Datsun. A further three owners have cherished this rare and intriguing
survivor. A comprehensive history file accompanies the vehicle and
includes many previous MOT certificates supporting the low mileage, as well
as previous maintenance receipts and invoices. The original handbook and
1980 Datsun Sunny sales brochure complete the enthralling history file for
this delightful vehicle. Ultimately appealing to a 'dare to be different'
classic car enthusiast or a seasoned collector, truly special.
