Also something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are
not trained mechanics. We like to make interesting car mods and show you
how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you
will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone
else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible
and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious
machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. Talk to a
qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.
Miata Drifting Practice (Open Differential)
Practicing drifting my 91 Miata during 1 event I did in 2011 at Desoto
Speedway. The car was completely stock drivetrain at the time, including an
open rear differential! I ended up breaking the diff as you'd imagine and
now I have a Torsen LSD out of an 2001.
I have since sold the wheels and I'm going to get much better coilovers
(had Raceland) and lighter/better wheels. Hopefully I'll get some more seat
time coming soon.

A 250 hp Miata vs a 430 hp Corvette
ProAutoSports and Bob Bondurant team up to hold a track day at the
Bondurant High Performance and Race Driving School near Phoenix. This video
clip features a moderately modded 2004 MazdaSpeed Miata with about 250
flywheel hp (200 rwhp on a Dyno) following a 430 hp late
model Corvette. The well driven Miata (with a passenger in the car) does
pretty well considering the huge power advantage of the Corvette, but the
Vette does eventually pull ahead slowly.
