Launched in 2002, the W211 E-Class was a huge improvement over the previous model and was rated as a substantially better vehicle Launched in 2002, the W211 E-Class was a huge improvement over the previous model and was rated as a substantially better vehicle than its long time rival BMW 5-series (which had previously been rated as better in all areas). The W211-based W219 CLS-Class 4-door coupe was introduced in 2005 to attract younger customers. In many Northern-European countries the E-Class is used as a taxi and so the image is not viewed as being exclusive enough along with its traditionally 'old-man's car' image. The W211 E-Class was facelifted in 2006 to freshen up its appearance and primarily to improve quality and technical aspects of the car. The largest engine in the E-class range is the E500 (badged E550 in the U.S.) which had its engine size increased from 5 litres to 5.5 litres in 2006 along with the facelift. There is also an AMG model badged E63 AMG.
Mercedes-Benz introduced their BlueTec Diesel system to the E-Class at the 2006 North American International Auto Show as the E320 CDI BlueTec. BlueTec is a two-phase system for cleaning diesel emissions. The first phase makes the E320 CDI legal in 45 of the 50 United States (plus the District of Columbia). The second phase uses urea for further reductions to meet the more stringent standards of California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, and Vermont. Sales of E320 CDI BlueTec began in autumn 2006 as a 2007 model, but 50-state legal models with urea injection will only be introduced in 2009 model year.
The W211 model of the E-Class became somewhat infamous for its poor reliability. Consumer Reports classified the W211 model's reliability as "poor," its lowest rating, and declared it one of the "least reliable luxury cars", but the newer 2007 models have rebound on quality, with JD Power giving the E class, the best in the mid size luxury segment award.

Mercedes Benz SLK with SLR Engine vs. Ferrari Enzo
R171 represents the second generation of Mercedes-Benz SLK. Compared with
the R170, R171 has larger dimensions.
The Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class is a luxury roadster built by the German
manufacturer Mercedes-Benz since 1997. The name was chosen to reflect the
company's intentions for the car - that it be Sportlich (sporty), Leicht
(light), and Kurz (short). There have been two generations of SLK cars from
Like its predecessor, the second generation of the vehicle featured a
retractable hardtop. Following the trend initiated by the R170 model, by
the time the R171 was released, this had become an increasingly common
feature in almost every new convertible introduced in the market,
especially in Europe.
The SLK was updated in 2004 with a new Formula One-inspired appearance and
serious performance; the new model also took design cues from the
Mercedes-Benz Vision SLA concept car, presented in 2000. The new
R171-platform SLK was again on Car and Driver's Ten Best list for 2005, and
it won the Canadian Car of the Year Best New Convertible award.
Highlighting its potential appeal to women, New Zealand's Lucire magazine
announced it as its 'Car to Be Seen in' for 2005. The current SLK is built
in Bremen, Germany.
A facelift of the R171, with more powerful engines and an updated front
splitter was unveiled at the end of 2007. The SLK 200 now produces 135 kW
(184 hp DIN) while the SLK 350 is upgraded to produce 224 kW (305 hp DIN).
The SLK 280 and SLK 55 AMG engines remain unchanged. The SLK 280 will now
be called an SLK 300 in some markets. The new models are expected around
July, but can already be ordered. The updated SLK 55 AMG can be recognized
by the blacked out portion of the front spoiler. A new Steering assist
system is offered in which the gear teeth are cut at increasing frequency
at either extreme to physically increase the ratio, rather than using power
assist. Comand APS 2.5 is the new system which uses a hard drive based GPS
2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6X6 vs 2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG! Head 2 Head Ep. 46
On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jonny Lieberman heads to Graz, Austria, the
home of one of the world's toughest off roaders - the Mercedes-Benz
G-Wagen. The last time a G63 appeared on Head 2 Head, it beat out the
all-new and quite excellent Range Rover Supercharged. This time, however,
the G63 faces even stiffer competition — another G63. Of course, this
particular G has an extra axle, because it's the $500,000+ G63 AMG 6x6!
Costing roughly twice as much as the awesome twin-turbo V-12 powered G65, the 6x6 is the ultimate
expression of the Gelandewagen... on paper. But is it actually any good? Is
the 6x6 as awesome as it looks, or is the regular G-Wagen just too well
thought out? And why is the 6-wheeled truck always jumping in the air like
that? Watch and find out!
Head 2 Head appears every other Wednesday on the Motor Trend channel.

For The World's Best Car Videos
On February 13, 2011, Mercedes Benz announced that it would be unveiling a
C-Class coupe variant for the 2012 model year. Starting in September 2011,
the C-Class coupe will be made available in C250, C350, and C63 AMG
The C 63 AMG is reportedly the first AMG-Mercedes designed from the ground
up for performance, as compared to previous AMG cars which essentially
featured "bolt on" performance modifications. The C 63 has a revised front
end architecture that is taken from the CLK 63 AMG Black Series. The
7G-Tronic has AMG SpeedShift with three shift modes -- Comfort, Sport and
Manual -- with the last one running with the converter locked allowing the
driver to hold the engine at the rev limit. The ESP can now be completely
turned off, interfering only under heavy braking. The car also has the
quickest, most responsive steering of any Mercedes to date. Car and Driver
tested the car in their December 2007 issue and recorded a 0--60 mph time
of 3.9 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 12.3 seconds at 116 mph (187
km/h). This made the C63 AMG the quickest 4-door production sedan in
the world at its debut.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a compact executive car produced by the
Mercedes-Benz division of Daimler AG. First introduced in 1993 as a
replacement for the 190 range (W201, also nicknamed "Baby-Benz"), the
C-Class was the smallest model in the marque's lineup until the 1997
arrival of the A-Class. The C-Class is built at Mercedes-Benz factories in
Sindelfingen and Bremen, Germany as well as in Mercedes's factories in
Brazil and Daimler AG's South African factory in East London. The very
first W202 C-Class sedan was produced on June 1, 1993, and the second
generation W203 C-Class rolled off the assembly line on July 18, 2000. The
third generation W204 C-Class was launched in 2007. The C-Class is the
entry-level offering in Mercedes-Benz's United States lineup.
The C-Class platform has been used for several coupes, including the
CLC-Class (and its predecessor, the C-Class Sportcoupe) and the E-class
Coupe (and its predecessor, the CLK-Class)
In December 2010, Mercedes released some photos and details of W204 C-Class
facelift, which was officially unveiled during Detroit Auto Show in January
2011. Some new features of the new model includes engine start-stop system,
7G-tronic gearbox available for lower end models with revised gear ratios to improve fuel
economy, a high resolution screen on the dashboard which has visual
functions similar to the S and CL Class models, as well as some minor
revision of the appearance of the interior and exterior of the car. The car
also features the new Mercedes-Benz Comand APS system, first seen on the
2010 E Class. The new 2012 models are expected to be available at the
dealers starting September 2011.
The W204 C-Class has 100 trim levels of equipment -- Classic, Elegance,
Avantgarde, and AMG. The Classic is the base trim found only on the smaller
four-cylinder engine models and come with Brighton cloth seats (ARTICO
leather optional), while the Elegance has ARTICO leather (vinyl) upholstery
standard (leather optional), and the Avantgarde has Liverpool/ARTICO fabric
seats (leather optional). The Classic and Elegance lines retain the
traditional Mercedes-Benz radiator grille usually on sedan models, with a
three-point star bonnet emblem, and is designed to appeal to regular luxury
buyers. The Avantgarde and AMG have a grille similar to that on Mercedes'
sport coupe models, with three horizontal bars and a large centre-mounted
star, plus there is additional equipment such as a three-spoke steering
wheel, AMG bodykit, lower sport suspension, upgraded brake piston calipers,
and larger alloy wheels, and these configurations are designed to position
the C-Class as a sports sedan. Unlike previous generations of the C-Class
and other contemporary Mercedes sedans which stayed with the traditional
grille and hood ornament, the W204's advertising predominantly features the
sport grille and AMG bodykit, especially in Canada and the United States.
