Project GM Holden 253 V8
The beginnings of my 253ci Holden V8 restoration project!
[ project shelved indefinitly due to lack on income to spend on it] -
The engine was a $100 junkyard find, having spent a number of years outside
in the weather it is in rough shape, but not too far gone!
My primary assessment determined that it needs a bearing kit, bore hone,
gasket kit, lifters, maybe a cam shaft, rebuilt heads, sump and rocker
covers, carburetor, and possibly more ancillary equipment.
Either way its a great learning experience that I encourage any gearhead to
undertake at some stage in their life!
1973 Maverick Grabber 332 Stroker first test drive
This is the first test drive of an 8 month build. It's a very clean 1973
Maverick Grabber that has been converted to a top loader 4 speed. The
engine is a 332 Scat Stroker, with Dart Aluminum heads, roller cam, MSD,
etc. During the build we also installed an SSBC 4 wheel disc brake
conversion. My wife was trying to film the "maiden voyage" and the
camcorder batteries went dead. She was relegated to the front porch using
the AC adapter. We will get it out on the road for more footage soon....
FORD MUSTANG LX 5.0 REBUILD
Originally a silver 4 cylinder automatic headed to the junkyard, now a
carbureted 5.0, 5 speed, 3.73 gears with every 5.0 V8 drivetrain/suspension
option added (or being added). Runs 14.2 @ 98mph. Stay tuned for further

Basic Engine Building DVD - Chapter 17: Pistons
By this section you'll be ready to remove the pistons, starting with the
rod caps. You'll also get to see the crankshaft, rod bearings and journals
for the first time and inspect them for damage as they come out. Great tips
on protecting the cylinder bore while removing the pistons and connecting
rods. We don't recommend using a ridge reamer to make this easier. As your
block will need to go the a machine shop anyway. They are likely to damage
your cylinder walls and are hard to use.
