78 Ford Fairmont Station Wagon

This is my 78 Ford Fairmont Station Wagon. Its my daily driver work car. I have had it for going on 5 years now. I pulled the original engine, transmission, and rear differential. The engine trans and 8.8 diff came out of a 89 Mustang. It is a 5.0 with a 5 speed and a 3.73 gear. It also has Mustang Pony Wheels on it. Here is a short video of me goofing off on my way home from work this past fall. Its nothing special just an old work car.

1979 Ford Fairmont a Closer Look -EricTheCarGuy
Many of you have been asking me about Fairmont videos so I thought I would make this one where I take a closer look at what I have to work with. I also talk about some of my plans for this car going forward. I think I have a really nice 'shell' to work with. I have my work cut out for me that's for sure, but as I say in the video, that will just make for more interesting videos. For now, I think I'll drive it. It's a good car after all. A few minor issues, but nothing to really worry about. I may do some of the repairs such as the inner tie rod in an upcoming video. I just need to work out the alignment when I'm done. Looks like an easy job though, easier than some of the other power steering rack stuff I've done. Anyway, enjoy the video. Here's some links. The Fairmont The Plan -EricTheCarGuy
I think every build should start with a good plan. You need to figure out what it is you want to accomplish before you start paying out your hard earned money on a vehicle build. In this video I talk about my plans for my 1979 Ford Fairmont. For those of you not familiar, this is a Fox body vehicle which is the same chassis as the Ford Mustang from 1978-1992. That means that most of the parts that fit a Mustang of that vintage, fit this car. I'm not the first person to think of this, but I hope to put my own unique spin on this build to make it my own. I think you'll enjoy what I have in store for the Fairmont. If nothing else, it will make for a bunch of new and interesting videos this season. I can't wait to get started. FYI, that will likely be summer 2015. Thanks for watching. 1979 Ford Fairmont Lighting Upgrade -EricTheCarGuy
This video works as a good guide for replacing these older sealed beam headlights. Given that you don't see this type of headlamp much anymore, the ones you do find tend to get a bit rusty. The parts can also be hard to find if you break something. You can use the tricks in this video to help guide you through headlight replacement on an older vehicle like this and also to help prepare for aiming them later. When Sylvania reaching out to me and asked if I'd like to try their Silverstar headlights in my 1979 Ford Fairmont, I said sure, I'll try them out. They were also kind enough to send me some Silverstar tail lights to go with them. I feel both are a vast improvement over the stock lamps. Thanks for hooking me up Sylvania. 1966 Nova Wagon: TAPOUT Terror - /BIG MUSCLE
Owner: • Tim "SkyScrape" Katz Most people who want to go road racing don't start off in a 48-year old station wagon. However it you're Tim "SkyScrape" Katz, the co-founder of "TAPOUT" you just say "F*CK IT", and build a wagon with the big 'ole V8 engine, a basketball size turbo, a roll cage and four racing seats so the family can come along for the ride. Tim's 1966 Chevrolet Nova Wagon was built in his garage and is anything but stock. Sure it's got some trick parts, but if you think it's a high-dollar resto-rod, think again as Tim's not only one helluva wrench, but one of the most die-hard car guys you're ever likely to meet.

1981 Ford Fairmont wagon w/5.0L Cold Start
Just felt like firing up the old wagon. It has a 1986 t bird 5L, t5, an 8.8 with 3.73 gears, bigger sway bars and poly bushings. Its chilling for the winter, then its getting a fresh 302 with H/C/I, a better clutch and a 8.8 with 35 spline axles and a spool. Runs low 14s with ease, hoping for 12s with the new combo.
