This is my 78 Ford Fairmont Station Wagon. Its my daily driver work car. I have had it for going on 5 years now. I pulled the original engine, transmission, and rear differential. The engine trans and 8.8 diff came out of a 89 Mustang. It is a 5.0 with a 5 speed and a 3.73 gear. It also has Mustang Pony Wheels on it. Here is a short video of me goofing off on my way home from work this past fall. Its nothing special just an old work car.

Cranky Fairmont Wagon -20 C Cold Start, Reving and Quick Drive.
I know we already have a cold start of the wagon but I like hearing it and
I was bored. Ive driven it many winters with no problems, but it has never
sat so long with it being this cold, so I figured it might be fun to start
it. Andrews using my Optima battery so I had to steal one, and it was half
dead, but after alittle charging she fired up.

The Ford Fairmont is a compact car produced by Ford Motor Company for the
North American market. Introduced for the 1978 model year, the Fairmont was
produced in several bodystyles until it was replaced by the Ford Tempo for
the 1984 model year. The Fairmont was the successor to the Maverick; its
Mercury counterpart was the Mercury Zephyr, which replaced the Comet.
The Fairmont and Zephyr marked the introduction of the long-running Ford
Fox platform, used for a wide variety of later models. Those most closely
related to the Fairmont included the 1980--1982 Ford Thunderbird, the
1981--1982 Ford Granada, the 1979--1993 Ford Mustang (and 1979--1986 Mercury
Capri), and the 1982--1987 Lincoln Continental.
1981 Ford Fairmont wagon w/5.0L Cold Start
Just felt like firing up the old wagon.It has a 1986 t bird 5L, t5, an 8.8
with 3.73 gears, bigger sway bars and poly bushings. Its chilling for the
winter, then its getting a fresh 302 with H/C/I, a better clutch and a 8.8
with 35 spline axles and a spool. Runs low 14s with ease, hoping for 12s
with the new combo.
The Show & Tell (and drive) of the 1978 Ford Fairmont
I finally decided to film this car after putting it off due to weather,
lack of enthusiasm, not enough tape in the camera, and/or not sure how to
present this. It will need some work, mainly the engine needing a tune up
and cosmetics. And on a side note; I had a car like this (1982 model)
during my High School days.
WARNING: An S-Bomb was dropped @ 4:29, and some unnecessary screaming and a
MF-Bomb was done @ 9:33. Although I did put a warning banner for the latter
(but not the former), I felt that I should remind you that this does have
language, and viewer discretion IS advised.
All that said, please to enjoy. Any questions, ask.
