Heads and Cam Swap Ls1 240sx / Things always go wrong.
Decided it was finally time to add the Patriot Performance Stage 2 cnc ported heads and the TSP 228r cam to the mixture on the 5.7. A few things went wrong and at the end of the day i ended up with a little more displacement... After the clutch slipped at Driftoberfest i didnt have time to mess with changing it out. I was gonna skip the event then decided last min i wanted to drive some more. How to remove a RB25 transmission (240sx)
Smurf Man removing a rear wheel drive transmission with steps in description it gets really tight Clutch was completely blown.. Steps.. informational only. do at your own risk 1 remove driveshaft 2 place jack under transmission to secure it 3 unbolt mounts 4 drain oil 5 remove shifter 6 remove slave cylinder ( not shown but very basic ) 7 lower jack ( this tilts the engine ) until the 2 top bolts are shown 8 with at least a 5 foot extension and universal joint unbolt top bolts (14mm) 9 work your way around the transmission ( refer to manual ) 10 twist and turn tranny till it slides off ( be careful ) then place it onto your $300 skateboard...

It's much less of a headache and you won't have to worry about the Exhaust which would be the most challenging part in my opinion. Aside from that it's not likely a filter change will have any real benefit since it's a closed system. In addition there is some speculation as to what the service interval actually is for the transmission fluid and filter is. Lastly be sure that you have some sort of pump to get the fluid into the transmission before you get started because as I show in the video there is no dip stick for this transmission that you can fill through. You also need to be sure to use the proper fluid, I've got my fingers crossed that the MaxLife that I used will hold up fine, so far it's been about 2 months since I shot this video and it seems to be fine. In all it's not a bad job there are just specific procedures that need to be followed to be successful with it. Transmission to Engine Install - LQ4 and T56
I wont even say watch in HD... haha. This video is another one of those videos that I probably didnt need to make. But I did anyway. Lots of those... I wanted to show how useful a trans jack could be, as well as how I mate the engine and trans together out of the car. BUT...as you can see it did not go smoothly. The last time I put the trans on the motor, the motor was in the car. While swinging on the hoist, it adds a little element of difficulty to it I believe. Because I couldnt get it to slide in for the life of me. Until I turned the camera off of course. After this, the K-member got bolted up and it was ready for headers and install into the car!!!
