Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart Sportback HD Video Review

Mitsubishi doesn't have a large dealer network in American but that doesn't mean it doesn't build fun vehicles. Looking for a performance car that you won't see thirty times on your way to work? There are lot of smiles packed into the Lancer Ralliart. Tom Voelk checks out the Sportback model in this expanded video review.

2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart Review
The good: The 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart stands out for its double-clutch transmission and smart all-wheel-drive system. A thumping audio system will please some, and an onboard jukebox proves convenient. The bad: The Lancer Sportback looks too much like a sedan in hatchback clothing. There is no iPod or USB drive integration. The ride quality doesn't strike a great balance between comfort and sport handling. The bottom line: Driven enthusiastically, the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart shows some chops, but its roughness might make it a little hard to live with on a daily basis.

2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart Quick Walkaround
Just picked her up. This is like my fourth new Mitsubishi. Never a problem. As for changes....we know the body is the same. But I did notice one difference: the bottom of the rear quarter panels. You will notice the cut. Also, the touchscreen radio with back-up camera is cool. The suspension on this Ralliart edition is not as rough as the Evolution. Much softer ride. This one came with the cool blue interior lights. Although the power between the two (Ralliart & Evolution) is evident....as we're talking about an entire 1 second difference between the two.

WRX Takes On Ralliart: Subaru vs. Mitsubishi
FOR MORE WRX VS. RALLIART: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Comparos/articleId=138347??tid= edmunds.il.home.photopanel..2.* Stuff the 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX into a corner, and you know it deserves a rematch with the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. It's no less refined than the 2008 WRX, but it goes in without paralyzing understeer and doesn't keel over as soon as you load the outside tires. Provoke it and you'll get some attitude. When you're back on the throttle hard at the exit, there's no rush to grab 3rd gear. Rescued from last year's rev-starved funk, the 2.5-liter boxer-4 engine wants to see its 6,500-rpm redline again. Most important, the 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX isn't trying so hard to distance you from the drive. It rewards your efforts in the cockpit — one of the things that made the previous-generation WRX so likable. Probably this is also why the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart is so involving to drive. Introduced last summer, this Lancer Ralliart is the long-awaited head-on challenge to the WRX dynasty and it kicked the 2008 WRX while it was down. Even compared to the 2009 WRX, Mitsubishi's Ralliart is a flashier package. It has mechanical limited-slip differentials both front and rear, a very neat automated dual-clutch gearbox, Recaro seats and the schnoz of a tiger shark. Evo Jr. has a nice stiff chassis, too. If the homely gray Subaru has any shot at winning here, it will have to do more with less.
