Phil Chain's XR6 turbo currently holds the record with an 8.4 at 166mph, but the boys had some problems getting it down the track at Jamboree and only (??) managed a couple of 9.1sec runs at over 160mph. It's a beast of a thing with a massive GT47R turbo. How soon until we see a 7sec pass from an XR6 turbo is Australia?
WTOFIT - Crazy Rotary Powered Van Burnout
We popped in to the Good Fryday Burnout at Sydney Dragway to check out the action and found this totally insane little rotary powered Suzuki van ripping a few skids. Check out that glowing Exhaust. We've seen a few hot systems in our time but never one that glowed so brightly.
R33 Skyline Punches A Rod Out at Gazzanats
There's no doubt that Skylines are decent performance cars but every car has it's limits - as the owner of this R33 found out at Gazzanats. I've never seen a nearly complete conrod leave an engine before, usually they're broken in two.
13s For $1300 - Project Bluebird - Episode 16
After hitting the Dyno last week we decided to head to the track again and see if we could improve on our last effort. But we shaved a bit more weight off the car in the meantime - another 43kg off the total.
Two Close Calls at Ford Forum drag day - CLINIC F6 Typhoon
You might remember Adrian Abela's Dyno monster from Summernats 23 (I'll add a link). With the help on Dyno-Mite Performance the F6 Typhoon replica punched out a whopping 869hp at the REAR WHEELS. Adrian has already run 9.8 with the bright orange blaster, but he found out he needed a little more traction at Heathcote Raceway recently when both runs nearly ended in disaster.
Check out the camera fogging just before the first launch - heat coming from the rear of the car as it builds Boost on the line is simply phenominal.
Jamboree 2011 - Cool Cars, Hot Women
I decided to stick my head in for a look at Jamboree 2011 while on holidays in Queensland recently. Cool cars and hot women make this event a mandatory addition to everyone's event list.
There's a couple little editing glitches in the video, but it took so long to render and upload, I decided to let them be.
Blown Nova Goes 6.39 on 10.5 tyres
Frank Mamone's blown Chevy Nova is a wicked looking beast and it's got plenty of grunt to match. Lately he's been racing the Hemi powered Nova inn the 10.5 class and with some success too. He won at Sydney Dragway recent at the APSA Pro Street Shootout.
CHIWAWA - 7sec Toyota Corolla
You might remember this Corolla from a couple months ago when it was white. Unfortunately it rolled in a fairly huge accident at Sydney Dragway. Now it's back in black and just as fast as ever.
Not sure on the exact details but I've heard it runs a 4G63 Billet block stretched to 2.4-litres and it's driven by Dominic Rigoli from Tony Rigoli Performance. Got to love the consistency of this little beast too.
Silver Bullet Becomes Voodu Bullet
Most car people in Australia would know about Gary Myers Silver Bullet. Well he sold it not that long ago to Victorian car enthusiast Perry Meka. Perry has given the Mustang a freshen up and renamed it Voodu Bullet. It's been resprayed with new airbrushing, given Nitrous and a new FBSS airbag system. Looks pretty cool. For those that don't know the engine is a 392 Hemi with two Superchargers.
TOGB8 - Ford BF XR6 Turbo Burnout
Ford's Xr6 turbo is an impressive ride. They go well in stock form and even better with a few tweaks. We don't see them on the burnout pad very often though - here's one guy punishing his at Springnats.
Changed the title to make the whingers happy :)
AGROVB - 253 Cubes & Blower - Summernats Qualifying
Yeah, it's Alan again with his revy 253 Holden and the B&M blower. This was his qualifying skid with the small cube combo. Alan didn't qualify last year but this year he had no such problems.
