Phil Chain's XR6 turbo currently holds the record with an 8.4 at 166mph, but the boys had some problems getting it down the track at Jamboree and only (??) managed a couple of 9.1sec runs at over 160mph. It's a beast of a thing with a massive GT47R turbo. How soon until we see a 7sec pass from an XR6 turbo is Australia?
Jamboree 2011 - Cool Cars, Hot Women
I decided to stick my head in for a look at Jamboree 2011 while on holidays
in Queensland recently. Cool cars and hot women make this event a mandatory
addition to everyone's event list.
There's a couple little editing glitches in the video, but it took so long
to render and upload, I decided to let them be.
R33 Skyline Punches A Rod Out at Gazzanats
There's no doubt that Skylines are decent performance cars but every car
has it's limits - as the owner of this R33 found out at Gazzanats. I've
never seen a nearly complete conrod leave an engine before, usually they're
broken in two.
Blown Nova Goes 6.39 on 10.5 tyres
Frank Mamone's blown Chevy Nova is a wicked looking beast and it's got
plenty of grunt to match. Lately he's been racing the Hemi powered Nova inn
the 10.5 class and with some success too. He won at Sydney Dragway recent
at the APSA Pro Street Shootout.
Performance Car Mania 2013
Scotty's Garage 2000th Video!!!
All the crazy action from Performance Car Mania 2013. With three days of
cruising, burnouts, powerskids, Dyno and more, it's a great
event and this year there were almost500 entrants so it was busy as hell.
Two Close Calls at Ford Forum drag day - CLINIC F6 Typhoon
You might remember Adrian Abela's Dyno monster from Summernats 23
(I'll add a link). With the help on Dyno-Mite Performance the F6
Typhoon replica punched out a whopping 869hp at the REAR WHEELS. Adrian has
already run 9.8 with the bright orange blaster, but he found out he needed
a little more traction at Heathcote Raceway recently when both runs nearly
ended in disaster.
Check out the camera fogging just before the first launch - heat coming
from the rear of the car as it builds Boost on the line is simply phenominal.
Rod Hadfield's BeauTy
For those who don't know Rod, he's on of the most prolific Australian hod
rodder's of our time. He's built and owned more amazing cars than most of
us could dream of. Check out his highly modified '26 T-coupe. It's running
an Ardun headed flathead V8 and a host of cool gear found around the swap
1TUFSS Makes An Impressive Amount of Smoke
Normally we don't expect much from late model cars but this VE Commodore
impressed a few with the sheer amount of smoke it was producing. It had
smoke coming out of all orifices at Avalon.
GM671 - Summernats Burnout Third Place
I've had nothing but trouble posting this video so I hope you all enjoy it.
After dropping a valve in his Mustang Gary Myers put all his
efforts into the Summernats Burnout Comp with the XA Coupe. He almost got
there too ad showed that yuou don't need a blower to get on the podium.
13s for $1300 - Project Bluebird - Episode 12
To fix the lazy shifts we've made a few mods the wiring harness of our
Project Bluebird so we can get the trans shifting a little harder. It takes
less than $20 of parts, a few wires, and a soldering iron to get the job
done. Hopefully it works on the track.
Near Miss for 2000hp Toyota Aurion
Tony Wedlock proves once again why he's one of the best drag racing sedan
drivers in the country. His 2000hp 2JZ powered Toyota Aurion normally runs
6sec quarter mile times but he had some trouble getting the power to the
ground at Jamboree 2011.
He almost made it look too easy saving his Toyota from collecting both
walls after getting up on two wheels during eliminations. It was a hell of
a driving job!
Silver Bullet Becomes Voodu Bullet
Most car people in Australia would know about Gary Myers Silver Bullet.
Well he sold it not that long ago to Victorian car enthusiast Perry Meka.
Perry has given the Mustang
a freshen up and renamed it Voodu Bullet. It's been resprayed with new
airbrushing, given Nitrous and a new
FBSS airbag system. Looks pretty cool. For those that don't know the engine
is a 392 Hemi with two Superchargers.
Action from Supernats 2005 (I think). A few crashes and interesting tidbits
from the archives.
SPOT ON - Chassis Twisting 2JZ-Powered VL Wagon
This is Australia's quickest VL Wagon but it's not powered by a Nissan
3-litre like most other VL's, this one is sporting Toyota power with a
hopped-up 2JZ under the bonnet. It's no slouch either. On Saturday it ran a
PB of 9.8 before breaking the gearbox, they dropped another box in it and
turned up the wick with the car going 9.2 at 150mph by the end of the day.
It's still got the factory BW diff in it too.
Ford FPV F6 runs 11.0 after driving 1600km
Then he drove home. Yep, Paul from Elite Automotive in Brisbane decided to
attend the recent Ford Forum Drag Nationals at Heathcote Park with his Ford
FPV F6 (dohc 4-litre six with factory turbo - 415hp factory).
Brisbane is in Queensland and Heathcote is in Victoria and there's alot of
Australia in-between. According to whereis.com, the trip from Brisbane to
Heathcote is 1618.4km (1000miles) one way!
As you can see Paul had no problem reeling off a bunch of 11-sec ETs
(including at least three 11.0s) before drving back to Queensland. Not bad
for a car with a stock bottom end. All Paul has done is fit bigger
injectors/Intercooler/Exhaust and some better valve springs plus
given it a tune. The trip covered over 3500km all up. Now that's a real
