2008 Subaru Impreza WRX vs. 2007 Mazdaspeed 3 by Inside Line
For Edmunds' Inside Line article: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Comparos/articleId=121942 Sport compacts have it hard. Cars like the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX and the 2007 Mazdaspeed 3 — along with competitors like the Honda Civic Si, Mini Cooper S and Volkswagen GTI — are expected to do mutually contradictory things with something approaching perfection. They're supposed to be quick but economical; athletic but comfortable; sporty but practical. Oh yeah, and they can't cost a lot. Go ahead and dream the impossible dream.

As a result, the 2011 WRX STI recorded 7'55''00 at the Nürburgring racetrack, Subaru's fastest lap time ever, which is 4 seconds faster than the previous fastest time recorded in 2004.

Roadfly.com - 2011 Subaru WRX Review & Test Drive
The Subaru WRX, a game-changing sport compact over the last decade, is a constant work in progress, with significant changes made in almost every production year. 2011 is no different—the WRX gets the widebody kit of its big brother, the 305-hp WRX STi. That gives it a much more aggressive look, and a wider track. There are new wheels in a 17x8 size, up 1 inch in width from 2010. These changes conspire to add 33 lb to the '11 WRX's curb weight. Despite that, the WRX is still extremely fast for an AWD compact car, in fact even faster to 60mph than the STi. Our test car was loaded with options, giving host Emme Hall much to "holler" about in her video review of the 2011 Subaru WRX Limited. Enjoy! —Road Test Editor Visit http://roadflytv.com for more pictures and a downloadable window sticker. 2012 Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan Test Drive & Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/subaru/impreza/2012/ When you consider the base price on the 2012 Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan is only $25,595 and you get a high-tech turbocharged engine along with Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive; there is no car that can equal this kind of performance bargain. The Subaru Impreza WRX comes as either a 4-door sedan or a 4-door hatchback. The WRX has been one of the best selling sport compact cars since 2002 when it first debuted in the U.S. The 2.5 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine produces 265 horsepower and 244 lb-ft. of torque. The engine is a boxer style which means the pistons lay horizontally. This gives the engine a lower center of gravity which helps in the handling department. 0-60 MPH flies by in less than 5 seconds. Subaru Boxer engines are also known for their distinctive engine note. Fuel economy for the WRX is 19 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. The Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system provides an even distribution of power to all the wheels at the same time. The 2012 Subaru WRX also only comes with a synchronized 5-speed transmission. There is not automatic offered. But this is a good thing because the WRX was built to perform. The Subaru WRX was redesigned for the 2011 model year and with the redesign came some cool exterior changes. A new wide-body design gives the WRX a great look. The handling is taken care of by a 4-wheel independent suspension system featuring front and rear stabilizer bars. The wheels are 17-inch alloys wrapped in high performance P235/45 R17 tires. Up front there is a functional hood scoop that provides cool air for the top-mount Intercooler. Out back the dual Exhaust lets drives know the WRX mean business. On the inside the 2012 Subaru WRX features a cool set of sporty seats to hold the driver and passenger in place during spirited driving. The WRX comes standard with Bluetooth and iPod connectivity. There are 6 airbags to help keep you safe. The 2012 Subaru WRX Limited model tested here comes with leather interior, HID headlights, heated seats, and a cool touch screen navigation system. The 2012 Subaru WRX offers turbo power, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a great 5-speed transmission, and precise steering; all for around $26,000. Are there really any competitors that can match this kind of performance at such a low price point?
