1970 Torino Cobra 429CJ 4-Speed For Sale! (SOLD)
This car has been sold! Video will be left up for posterity, and because it's awesome. eBay auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/181246173812 This listing is for my beloved 1970 429 CJ, Ford Torino Cobra with a factory 4-speed transmission. This car is unusual in that it came with manual drum brakes and manual steering. A friend of mine sold me this car just before he passed away several years ago. Max bought the car in the early 80's from the original owner (see documentation) so that makes me the third registered owner. The 429 CJ motor and transmission were completely rebuilt by Alderidge Motor Sports in Portland, OR. As the video attests to and the documentation shows, a top notch job was ordered and it runs out VERY strong. The drive-train has about 30,000 miles on it since the extensive rebuild and would need very little to be rated a 10. It does not have its numbers-matching block anymore, and the carburetor is an aftermarket Holley, incorrect numbered distributor and other minor details need attention or are not correct (see video). It has a VERY solid Western body and some very nice interior parts. Please watch the video for specifics as I go into much further detail there. Feel free to call me at 503-463-1130 if you need further information. I feel this car is worth about $25,000.00, but my reserve is much less than that. We can help with shipping worldwide as I have done it many times over the last 25 years. I will consider trades for 67-73 parts or parts cars. Thank you! Don Rush 503-463-1130
Rusty Roof Replacement - 1968 Cougar
If you have an old car that came with a vinyl top, chances are that you have some rust issues in the roof. This was the case with Andrew's car - a 1968 Mercury Cougar that his grandparents bought brand new in '68. In this video, Andrew takes matters into his own hands to replace his rusted roof skin with a solid donor roof from another car. He is by no means a restoration expert, just an amateur trying to save some money and save his car. Need a roof or other body panels for your classic Cougar? West Coast Classic Cougar has it all. Drum to Disc Brake Conversion - 1968 Cougar / Mustang
A majority of these classic 60's cars came with manual drum brakes from the factory, which was fine when most of the other cars on the road also had manual drums. But in today's world, stopping distances are much shorter, and antiquated drum brakes are a real safety hazard when driving alongside modern cars. That's why converting to power disc brakes is a no-brainer to us. In this video, Andrew uses the factory power disc brake components from a 1970 Cougar to convert his 1968. The important thing to remember when doing this is to take the whole system in its entirety, and not to mix-and-match parts from different years. The 1970 brake pedal needs to be used with the 1970 Booster, and so on. The conversion shown in this video is just one of the possible routes you can take. We like using factory Ford parts when possible, rather than aftermarket kits, but that's our opinion. Most of the parts used in this video can be found here: http://www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/podibr.html?pi=3
