2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8
2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 The Street and Racing Technology (SRT) performance engineering team builds upon the all-new 2011 Chrysler 300 sedan already executed for a world-class luxury experience, to deliver Chrysler's most powerful and best handling model ever. Projected performance numbers include 0-60 mph acceleration in the high 4-second range; quarter mile in high 12 second range; 0-100-0 mph in less than 16 seconds, top speed of 175 mph and stopping power from 60-0 mph in 120 feet. Owners of any Chrysler Group SRT vehicle receive one day of professional driving instruction from the Richard Petty Racing School as part of the SRT Track Experience, designed to maximize their driving knowledge and skills on the street or track. Sessions are held throughout the year at selected tracks. The return of the 300 SRT8 to the Chrysler lineup in 2012 evokes a strong comparison to the original high-performance production car of its time -- the 1955 Chrysler 300. Known for simple, strong lines, excellent engineering, high levels of luxury and outstanding performance with the first modern American V-8 engine to produce 300 horsepower, the first Chrysler 300 (C-300) was styled by Virgil Exner, who radically redesigned the entire Chrysler line and created what they called "The Forward Look" in 1955. Without much chrome on the sides, his designs were simple, but strong. Exner is credited with creating the illusion of fast, forward movement. The Chrysler C-300 won on both the road course and the "flying mile" at Daytona in 1955. In 1956, the Chrysler 300B model won both events again. In fact, the Chrysler 300s dominated NASCAR competition in 1955 and 1956, taking the overall championship in both years. A legendary and luxurious performance car was born. The "letter cars" quickly became the most desirable of the Chrysler lineup and became known as the "Beautiful Brutes."

ItaliaspeedTV - ZF 8HP70 8-Speed Automatic Transmission (Chrysler 300/Lancia Thema)
ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic transmission ZF engineers had set the bar high to produce a new benchmark for automatic car transmissions. The second generation of the ZF 6HP 6-speed transmission entered production only in 2006 included reaction times faster than human perception, direct engine linkage by early-stage torque converter lock-up and intelligent, adaptive control software, that almost reads the driver's intentions from his foot. But the new transmission is capable of even more - it saves (even more) fuel. It also guarantees ultimate driving enjoyment, as well as the variability needed to be able to use future technologies. Fuel saving Several innovations have been introduced in the new 8HP to reduce fuel consumption: the completely new transmission concept with four gear sets and only two shift elements open, a higher overall gear ratio, a variable oil pump, new torque converter, and optimized hydraulic and transmission control. A stop-start function is offered as an optional function. Idling at a standstill, the engine automatically switches off. When engaged again, the engine automatically starts up. Even at standstill times of just 10 seconds, switching off the engine cuts average consumption noticeably -- and also CO2 emissions. The start/stop function is enabled by the development of the hydraulic impulse oil storage (HIS). It supplies the hydraulic oil that the transmission's shift elements need for starting. When the engine is switched off, it allows for a quick start -- as it is required with the start/stop function. Already 350 milliseconds after starting the engine, the vehicle is ready for setting off. With the start/stop function of the hydraulic impulse oil storage, it is possible to reduce fuel consumption by another 5%. Compared with the worldwide most efficient 6-speed automatic transmission by ZF, the newly developed 8-speed automatic transmission saves another 11%. Benefits of HIS The hydraulic impulse oil storage makes more complex solutions obsolete, such as a more powerful oil pump in the transmission or an electric hydraulic pump. As a larger dimensioned transmission oil pump would considerably neutralize the fuel savings in continuous operation, an electric pump is an additional burden on the main power supply, has disadvantages in terms of noise, and leads to a considerably higher integration effort. In contrast, with the hydraulic impulse oil storage, ZF engineers have already considered the lowest possible system costs and easy installation of the unit. Other expensive adaptations of the transmission are not required; after all, with the new development of the transmission, ZF engineers have already considered the integration of the hydraulic impulse oil storage by ensuring a favorable design of the components and the respective routing. Farewell to conventional gear set concepts The ZF engineers went on the lookout for a completely new transmission system and discarded all previous established gear set concepts. Armed with a comprehensive list of criteria, the development engineers systematically appraised thousands of possible epicyclic gearing systems and their arrangement variants. The outcome was an 8-speed automatic transmission system leaving just four simple gear sets and five shift elements. Lower drag losses and higher gear meshing efficiency The clever thing, though is the shift plan. There are only 5 shift elements - multi-disc clutches and brakes in the heart of the transmission - and only 2 are open in each gear. The fewer open shift elements there are, the fewer transmission parts there are rotating relative to one another. On the bottom line, this results in a significant reduction of drag losses in the transmission. The development engineers were also able to increase the gear meshing efficiency with the new transmission concept. Energy is lost in some gears when power is transmitted through gear wheels. In the new automatic transmission, these losses are below 2% throughout - a further factor helping to reduce consumption.

► Chrysler 300 SRT8 (2012) on the track
The Street and Racing Technology (SRT) performance engineering team builds upon the all-new 2011 Chrysler 300 sedan already executed for a world-class luxury experience, to deliver Chrysler's most powerful and best handling model ever. Without much chrome on the sides, his designs were simple, but strong. Exner is credited with creating the illusion of fast, forward movement. Under the hood of the 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8, the new 6.4-liter HEMI® V-8 makes its debut in the Chrysler brand product lineup delivering 470 horsepower (351 kW) and 470 (637 N•m) lb.-ft. of torque, up 45 horsepower and 50 lb.-ft. over the 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 it replaces. The improved torque output -- including an additional 80 lb.-ft. at 2,900 rpm -- allows for inspired standing starts and improved straight-line performance while new, performance-tuned motor mounts improve idle stability and ride control at any speed. An active intake manifold and high-lift camshaft with cam phasing provides maximum low-end torque while optimizing high-end power.

2013 Ford Taurus vs Chrysler 300 S AWD Mile High Mashup Review
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 Ford Taurus and the Chrysler 300 S both have V-6 engines, both seat 5 passengers and both have all-wheel-drive. They also both and recently redesigned big American family sedans. In fact to call this video Mashup Review is a stretch as both cars compete directly with each other. Perhaps the biggest difference between the two cars is that the Chrysler has 4 more horsepower at 292 versus the Ford's 288 HP. So the obvious question is which of these two cars is better. Check out this video "Mashup" to find out.

2015 Chrysler 300C
Chrysler has unveiled the 2015MY 300 today on the dawn of the Los Angeles Auto Show, following a leak from September. At first glance it looks like the design was largely carried over but upon closer inspection you will notice many subtle revisions, with the most important one being the enlarged front grille. The lower front fascia has also gone through some updates mimicking the look provided by the smaller Chrysler 200 while the headlights look sharper and fresh. Inside the cabin, Chrysler opted for better materials, standard seven-inch display in the gauge cluster and a 8.4-inch touchscreen display part of the Uconnect infotainment system which features "on demand" Wi-Fi. Pop up the hood and you will find a Pentastar V6 3.6-liter engine with 292 bhp (218 kW) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) sent to the rear wheels (optional AWD available) through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 300S is rated at 300 bhp (224 kW) and 264 lb-ft (357 Nm) whereas the beefier HEMI V8 5.7-liter engine is rated at 363 bhp (271 kW) and 394 lb-ft (533 Nm) channeled to the rear wheels via an eight-speed auto offered on all versions. Other changes include new cast aluminum axles, an updated electric power steering system, improved adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and other similar safety & assistance systems. Production of the revised Chrysler 300 is slated to kick off before the end of the year, with pricing beginning at $32,390 whereas the flagship 300C Platinum costs $43,390. -SUBSCRIBE NOW- FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/TheWorldnewCars GOOGLE+: https://www.google.com/+TheWorldnewCars TWITTER: http://www.twitter.com/TheWorldnewCars
