Daijiro Yoshihara in Atlanta
falkentire.com While a new addition to Team Falken in 2009, Daijiro "Dai" Yoshihara is the veteran drifter on the squad. With 10 years of competition under his belt, Dai, who hails from Tokyo, is both extremely competitive behind the wheel and is just as popular outside the car. He has received the "Best Style" award by his peers for two straight years and is a stand-out among the drivers for his legendary "look" and signature hairstyle. This competitor embraces all fields of sport, enjoying surfing, snowboarding and earning championships in darts. He also is a prolific writer, and his blog can be viewed on the GT Channel website. He doesn't offer too much advice, however, as he needs to maintain his edge while piloting his lightened and completely rebuilt Lexus IS350, which features a normally aspirated Haselgreen-built V8 delivering over 750 hp, through the demanding drifting courses, running on Falken Azenis RT-615 tires. Dai enjoyed a successful 2008 season, taking 2nd place in the Red Bull World Championships and finished in 4th overall in the ultra competitive Formula D Series. For 2009, with the support of Team Falken and Discount Tire, Dai's expectations are set higher, as he is earnest about moving up several notches and scoring top place in more rounds and finishing on the top rung of the series championship. "I feel so happy that I can participate as a driver for Team Falken," Dai notes. As popular with the fans as he is with his fellow drivers, Dai states, "I want to please our drift fans this year making use of my skills developed from my many past experiences. At the same time, for my new team, I want to do my best to be able to end this season with the best result for myself!" 2009 Formula Drift Round 5 with Falken Tire
falkentire.com Music by Hunt Club: myspace.com/huntclubmusic MONROE, WA Originally built as a horse-racing track, Evergreen Speedway saw plenty of horsepower over the weekend as Formula Drift arrived in town, with the venerable track challenging the drivers and their cars to the Breaking Point, resulting in Chris Forsberg taking the win, while Team Falkens Tyler McQuarrie finished a respectable third. Qualifying on Friday was challenging as the judges were very critical of all efforts. Nevertheless, seven drivers on Falken Azenis RT615 tires made the field, including all Team Falken factory entrants McQuarrie; Vaughn Gittin, Jr.; Darren McNamara; Daijiro Yoshihara; and Calvin Wan, plus privateers Ross Petty (who was in fact the number two qualifier) and Taka Aono. Amid tough competition all day long, two Falken drivers advanced to the Top 8 Round, as both McQuarrie and Gittin defeated their opponents to move to the Top 4. Unfortunately, Gittin was involved in a collision during this run and was unable to advance, while teammate McQuarrie lost to eventual winner Forsberg. In the battle for third overall, it was Team Falken v. Team Falken, as McQuarrie came out on top over Gittin, who was able to compete despite his accident in the previous round. The events trademark nickname, Breaking Point, lived up to its reputation as a number of entrants became casualties to the tracks banking and tight transitions throughout the course. However, McQuarries strong third place finish moved him to third overall in the Formula D Championship, while Team Falken teammate Vaughn Gittin, Jr., despite a semi-final performance, dropped to fifth, and Darren McNamara remained in sixth. August is Formula Ds busiest month, with a second event, Round 6, just two weeks away in the wine country of Northern California at famous Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, August 21-22. Team Falken will be locked and loaded when that event arrives.

2010 Formula Drift Round 1 - Falken Tire Takes Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA The inaugural event in the 2010 Formula Drift season began with a big win for Team Falken where factory driver Vaughn Gittin, Jr., debuting his new 2011 Monster Energy Falken Tire 2011 Ford Mustang on the famed street course of Long Beach. Gittin, Jr., and Team Falken faced a very competitive field of entrants, totaling 53, one of the highest entry counts in the history of Formula D. Team Falken had a full complement of drivers at the popular track, the fifth year Formula D has visited Long Beach. In addition to Vaughn, rounding out the companys paddock and marketing activation areas were returning team members Daijiro Yoshihara in his rebuilt Discount Tire Nissan 240SX (S13); Tyler McQuarrie with his Nissan 350Z Convertible; and Darren McNamara, with his Saturn Sky in new Falken livery. Adding to the excitement of the weekend was the addition of several new faces to Falken including Justin Pawlak in his 2010 Ford Mustang and Formula D rookie James Deane who shocked the crowd with his aggressive driving in Falken's Nissan S15. Independent drivers on Falken Tires included Ross Petty, John Russakoff, Dean Kearney and Fredric Aasbo. 2010 will certainly be a busy year for Team Falken. Next stop, Road Atlanta.
