1903 Curved dash Oldsmobile Completed and Running
Well here it is finished and running as sweet as a nut. This was just before a test drive which I was going to film but there is a lot to do when driving it (steering, gears, mixture and spark setting) so I didn't manage that. But as the client wanted it to run (which no-one had managed for about 4 years) I was pleased with the result. It drove well too! For more old vehicle stuff go to www.rustytrucks.com

1967 Oldsmobile Delmont 88 cold start.
Firing up the '67 oldsmobile after sitting for a few weeks. The Temp was about 10 degrees. It has a 425 V8. the car is an all original michigan car. the only thing that's new are the ingition system (spark plugs, wires etc) and tires. There is some rust on the negative battery terminal which was the cause of the car not starting at first. I still have to fix it . . . when it's warmer outside.

1980 Oldsmobile Omega America
In March '07 i bought this oldsmobile omega for the price of E1250,- It was in a poor condition but it drove very well. Lived the American dream for 3 months and sold it because the gasoline prices reached sky high. The header leaked so if you started the engine the fan blows the gasses straight into the car. And when it started to rain the water leaked trough the 2 rust holes above the windscreen. I really enjoyed riding around in this car, it was my dream wich became a little nightmare. The first day i owned this car the generator failed and needs to be replaced. The gearbox made strange electrical noise and one of the valves made a ticking noise when revving up. Also the electrical wiring was a mess but it still worked. It costed enough, but really didn't repay. Sold this car before it fell apart ;)

more at http://cars.quickfound.net/ "Theater advertisements for the first all-new automobile to be placed on the market after World War II, the Oldsmobile Futuramic." Public domain film from the Library of Congress Prelinger Archive, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and equalization. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile Oldsmobiles were first manufactured by the Olds Motor Works in Lansing, Michigan, a company founded by Ransom E. Olds in 1897. In 1901, the company produced 425 cars, making it the first high-volume gasoline-powered automobile manufacturer. Oldsmobile became the top selling car company in the United States for a few years. Ransom Olds left the company in financial difficulties and formed the REO Motor Car Company. The last Curved Dash Oldsmobile was made in 1907. General Motors purchased the company in 1908. The 1901 to 1904 Oldsmobile Curved Dash was the first mass-produced car[citation needed], made from the first automotive assembly line, an invention that is often miscredited to Henry Ford and the Ford Motor Company. (Ford was the first to manufacture cars on a moving assembly line.) After Olds sold the company in 1899, it was renamed Olds Motor Works and moved to a new plant in Detroit. By March 1901, the company had a whole line of models ready for mass production. Unfortunately, a mistake by a worker caused the factory to catch fire, and it burned to the ground, with all of the prototypes destroyed. The only car that survived the fire was a Curved Dash prototype, which was wheeled out of the factory by two workers while escaping the fire. A new factory was built, and production of the Curved Dash commenced. Officially, the cars were called "Oldsmobile automobiles," colloquially referred to as "Oldsmobiles." It was this moniker, as applied especially to the Oldsmobile Curved Dash, that was popularized in the lyrics and title of the 1905 hit song "In My Merry Oldsmobile..." 1940s For the 1940 model, Oldsmobile was the first auto manufacturer to offer a fully automatic transmission, called the Hydramatic, which featured four forward speeds. It had an gas pedal and a brake -- no clutch pedal. The gear selector was on the steering column. Starting in 1941 and continuing through 1996, Oldsmobile used a two digit model designation. As originally implemented, the first digit signified the body size while the second represents the number of cylinders. Body sizes were 6, 7, 8, and 9, and 6- and 8-cylinder engines were offered. Thus, Oldsmobiles were named 66 through 98. The last pre-war Oldsmobile rolled off the assembly line on February 5, 1942. During World War II, Oldsmobile produced numerous kinds of material for the war effort, including large-caliber guns and shells. Production resumed on October 15, 1945 with a warmed-over 1942 model serving as the offering for 1946. Oldsmobile once again was a pioneer when, for the 1949 model, they introduced their Rocket engine, which used an overhead valve V8 design rather than the flathead "straight-8" design which prevailed at the time. This engine produced far more power than the engines that were popular during that era, and found favor with hot-rodders and stock car racers. The basic design, with few minor changes, endured until Oldsmobile redesigned their V8 engines in the mid-1960s...

Information about Oldsmobile V8 engines
In this video I talk about the "late" Oldsmobile V8 and offer tips on how to identify them by number. "Late" in this instance means 1964-1990. Early('49-64) Olds engines are an entirely different block, etc. Sometimes my info gets a bit twisted when it stays inside my head for a while, so a correction is that '77-80 heads are 3A, not 4A. 4A heads are 403 pieces. Also, to clarify and avoid confusion, this...7 A is a 350 head, this...7A is a later 307 head. You can also tell the difference easily by the ports. Late 307 and 260 ports are half the size of any other versions. Trivia: The Olds 403 was used in 1977-79 Pontiac Trans-Am's, but not all of them. Of note...the engine in the video is painted the incorrect shade of gold, which appears to be the Krylon generic gold. The proper shade is slightly darker and less "glitzy"

1978 Olds Omega 2dr Sedan Beige
The oil crisis of 1974 was still fresh in people's minds as they looked for economical transport...so Chevy, Pontiac, Olds and Buick offered versions of this right-sized car. This one happens to be for sale..it looks like the low mileage claimed! 305 c.i. engine and automatic, and the interior looks absolutely new. Appears the car was originally sold in Philadelphia and has the inspection stickers of that area. A neighbor of mine years ago had the Chevy version that was a hatchback.
