OFF ROAD RALLY RACING - Isuzu D-Max: BCCC Rally Round 1
This episode of Isuzu Outdoor Life features some off road rally racing as the Isuzu D-Max rally truck makes its debut at the BCCC (British Cross Country Championship) The organisers of the 2014 Britpart MSA British Cross Country Championship (BCCC) said it was a streak of masochism on their part to host the opening round at Myherin, also known as the Welsh 'Pikes Peak'. Rally stages are rarely hospitable places but this location is infamous for serving up four seasons of weather on a daily basis. Meanwhile, the course builders decided to inject even more drama by mapping out a punishing route filled with fast straights, tricky technical corners and 1000ft fluctuations in height. Most vehicles competing in the BCCC are dedicated off-road racers that do not need to be road-legal to take part. So it was perhaps with some trepidation that Isuzu UK entered this battlefield with a production class vehicle as part of its newly formed Jewson Isuzu D-Max Rally Team. Admittedly, some competition preparation has gone into the construction of this Double Cab pick-up (see box entitled 'Vehicle Specification' below) but it conforms to Class 1B mandates that restrict certain motorsport enhancements. Visibility was extremely poor due to dense mist early in the morning of day one. However this moisture also reduced the plumes of dust generated from the gravel surface, which allowed competitors to get a good view of the course during the sighting lap. On their return, driver Jason Sharpe and co-driver Russell Sharpe - both racing veterans - looked slightly shell-shocked at its gruelling nature. Nonetheless they were eager to see what the sturdy D-Max could do to bring the fight to the hoards of hardcore off-road racers. Enjoy, like and subscribe! OFF ROAD RALLYING with Isuzu D-Max - BCCC Rally Round 3
In this episode of Isuzu Outdoor Life we join the Isuzu D-Max rally team for the off road rally racing event in round 3 of the BCCC (British Cross Country Championship) This round of the BCCC we cross the border into Scotland, Forrest Estate is just North of New Galloway in Dumfries and Galloway. The venue is a very large private, wooded estate. The course is rough in many places and has numerous quarries which have to be navigated. The venue is used by the Scottish Hillrally Club for the Borders, hillrally and is a favourite for many. After enduring the mud bath of round two in Ebbw Vale, Wales, it was hoped that round three of the Britpart MSA British Cross Country Championship (BCCC) would be a little drier, though equally challenging for the Jewson Isuzu D-Max Rally Team. Keep an eye on Isuzu Outdoor Life for news and our full video report from round three. Round four of the 2014 Britpart MSA British Cross Country Championship will take place on 26-27 July. Isuzu 2015 BCCC Round 1 - Round Up
Round one of the Britpart MSA British Cross Country Championship (BCCC), took place in Myherin, Wales, commonly known as ‘Pikes Peak’. The Jewson Isuzu D-Max Rally team took part in the gruelling competition, with Jason Sharpe in the drivers seat and Richard Lester as co-driver. After completing three runs and racing the D-Max over one of the most extreme rough sections complete with deep dips and a massive jump, there was an overheat issue. The front bumper also took a knock after Jason took the D-Max to new heights, meaning it came down with a mighty crash. Despite these issues the D-Max shrugged them off and got on with the rest of the stages. This year Pikes Peak consisted of just one long, really rough, challenging section, rather than three that have been part of the course in previous years. Jason actually managed to get into 6th gear this year in comparison to last year, where all he managed was a few shifts to fifth gear. Run four was completed with absolutely no mistakes and on the final round, the D-Max come into contact with an extremely sharp rock that spilt the wheel in two, but thankfully the D-Max managed to see the rest of the stage through, as well as achieving an impressive time.
