My 68 montego with a 392" procharged windsor, DOT radial, in full street trim on the way to another mid 5 second 1/8 mile pass. car weighs 3700+lbs, full interior, full Exhaust, street driven regularly, runs on 93 octane thanks to the meth injection AND gets 12mpg if I keep my foot out of it'!! this pass was a 5.72@120mph

F2 Procharged 528 69' DODGE DART BLOWER WINE & PULL OFF/REV
528 ci mopar with a f2 procharger. This car was issued in rpm magazine. Cars makes about 1,400 horsepower & should run high 7s in the quarter mile specifically 7.70s. And yes it's a street legal car.

In Brian Konczyk's own words...The reason this run is significant for me is because the car was built to run with a factory hood and everything was designed around that. It dictated how the engine was built and limited how much horsepower it could make. It was really a big accomplishment that the car was able to run in the 7s with 100% factory body except for the rims and tires. Unfortunately the cooling system failed and that is what caused the engine to eat itself up. This pass was the last pass with the car in its 100% factory trim. The car was built and run like this since 2010 and this pass basically closed or ended this chapter of the build. Going forward I am going to use a cowl hood that will allow me to build a more powerful engine and hopefully run quicker. The engine will remain a sbc and I have already purchased a new top end of my engine from Curtis Boggs of Race Flow Development . Chuck Samuels will handle the building of the engine and Joe Priola will handle the fabrication to fit the new engine to the car. I know it sounds weird, but the car drew a bunch of attention because when it ran nobody expected it to be as fast as it was. Now it will be faster but it wont be sneaking up on anybody. It will still be Procharged although likely a different model to supply the new engine. 10-28-15

NUCLEAR BURNOUT! VADER TRANS AM! PROCHARGED 7SEC STREET LEGAL BEAST!
After spending the summer taking care of his ill mother and not having made a pass in a year, Brian Konczyk decided to take out his 7.90's et '89 Trans Am to test at Byron Dragway before the snow flies here in the midwest. Over the winter he freshened the the engine up, installed a different ignition system, along with a race pack data system. His good friend Joe Priola, who performed all the chassis work including the building of a 9" Ford rearend with 3.50 gear, would pilot the Street Legal, 3500lb, All Steel, Factory Hood, '89 Trans Am powered by a Chuck Samuels built 400sbc F2 Procharger, Air to Water Intercooler, BS3 EFI System,AFR Heads,TH400 Trans with Pro Torque Converter. On the maiden pass, Joe broke in the new 28/10.5/R15 MT Pro Bracket Radials and layed down a 8.23@167.05mph pass. On the second Joe set the car's best ever 60' time of 1.200 enroute to a 8.03@173.49mph. All in all not bad considering they were just flogging out a new combination and still working the bugs out.
