Extreme turbo Saab + 300 kmh
Many viewers have misunderstood this video, so I explain it a little:
-Speed at finish line (1mile/1609m) is measured. Time is not measured.
-First Saab does 1st and 2nd gear with ~half throttle. Second Saab has
limited Boost for 1st and 2nd gear.
- three extra seconds between 0-100kmh typically means ~30meters wasted.
But three extra seconds used in speeds close to 300kmh, means almost

lot faster between 0-150kmh, but

150kmh-300kmh. You get the point when you compare speeds at finish line.
-A Saab 9-5 driver pushes a little too much throttle @3rd gear and looses
traction. He lifts a throttle and pushes it back, but too much again and
then he gears up 4th, a bit earlier than planned. (optimal is@205kmh).
Earlier that summer I broke one gearbox when pushing too hard on 3rd gear.
With new gearbox and at later event, I drove very gently on first three
gears to avoid breaking it again. I pushed WOT for the first time on 4th
gear @ 190kmh. You can hear it clearly on following video. Engine tone
changes totally around 200kmh. Incar video is from 299kmh pull (at 1 mile
race) Something happened to camera during the run. So I didn't get any

Saab 900 Talladega Challenge 1996
In October of 1996, Saab Automobile brought over 6 randomly selected
standard production 1997MY Saab 900 models to the Talladega International
Speedway to test their endurance on the track over the course of a 8 days.
The 6 Saab 900 vehicles included naturally aspirated, turbo'd and V6 equipped vehicles. Journalists from
all over the world were invited to participate including notables such as
legendary SAAB rally personality, Simo Lamipinen of Finland and of course

Saab History Documentary
In tribute to Saab, here is an old documentary about the history of the
company. It is from the mid 90's and the quality was from a VHS tape. I do
not own the rights to this video. This is for fair use and analysis.

Less than a year old stuff
-Viggen Exhaust just put on.
-clear side blinkers
-bought the talledega spoiler new old stock in 2006, Still have the stock
-New upgraded control arms before i bought it,
-new upgraded shifter linkage right after i bought it.
-New turbo last year, as well as oil pan
checked and cleaned. It was fine (no sludge at all)
-Leather shift boot,
-Custom 9-5 leather ebrake cover,
Serpentine belt in january.
-DIC was replaced.
-9-3 color coated mirrors,
-saab original floor mats (best ever made IMHO),
-saab center arms rest,
-replaced the fog lights with clearer ones,
-new rear saab center emblem in june,
-new rear brake rotors i box, (have slotted and different pads that will go
if i get the asking price.
-new pads all around, new stock rear rotors January.
-I had rust on the right left panel and had someone bump it in a parking
lot, so insurance paid for the replacement and painted the left side.
-all door dings were removed and the right side was painted from a shopping
cart incident at lowes.
There are no door dings AT ALL! Paint is shiny (just look at the photos)
Hood, roof, hatch, and left front fender Are slightly faded unless I
constatly keep freadhly waxed. (which i do, my neighbor think i'm crazy)
-Forge bow off valve
Genuine saab intake
Car has been gone over basically restored by me. I always dreamed of having
the 94 900 turbo havning fallen in love
with Saab in 199-93 when i bought my first Saab. Red was always the car to
have for me and when i found one i had to have it. if something wasn't
right, i fixed it.
Car is tight and turbo pulls strong. The
water pump started making a little noise, so i'm replacing that asap. So
the car is basically good for another 100,000 miles with everything i
windows are tinted and I put carbon fiber vinyl on the sides, but those are
just cosmetic no value things in my opinion. The dash and center console
also have the wood grain which is taste-full, but strictly cosmetic too.
Tranny was just flushed and filled with syncromesh Pennsoil. Synthetic was
in previously, but Saab changed it and i would've had to flush with that
stuff which was twice the price.
I religiously change the oil at 3000 miles and always, always run 92+
octane. Radiator was flushed with the idler pulley and will be again with
The dash and Speedo started to flicker and 2 bulbs burnt out, so i
purchased one with 20,000 less miles on it (ebay) and replaced it. lights
up fine now, and while i was fixing that i made sure i replaced the ACC
Whoa I think i said too much. lol
Some negative: The hatch has some rust i started to repair. I stripped the
rust and put rust inhibitor paint and just sprayed factory paint over it.
Stopped the rust from getting worse and looks good from ten feet, but need
Cruise works, but doesn't go off when pushing in clutch. (Bad switch) So
you have to tap the brakes before pushing in the clutch. After I got the
shofterlinkage installed I have to hodld the shifter in reverse to take the
key out. It whas also popped out of gear going in reverse, so I just make
sure i hold it when goiung backwards.
I' sure it is just an adjustment, just never bothered me enough to fix it.
i recently purchased a Viggen, and 9-3 900 turbo, Selling two keeping Viggen and SPG. The 9-3
still needs work before i would sell it to anyone, but before i knew i was
selling, this year I actual put this car in the Carlisle Import show.
(didn't win, but I felt like it's worthy of showing to people with the
quality of work)
I spent hundreds of dollars and time to get this car ready to sell.
