Season: 1 Episode: 3 Manufacturer: McLaren Automotive McLaren Automotive was founded in 1989. The current chairman of McLaren is Ron Dennis. McLaren Automotive works closely with McLaren Racing, and also has worked with design students from Istituto Europeo di Design. McLaren Automotve and McLaren Racing are spin-off's of McLaren Group. The company is named after Bruce McLaren. Bruce McLaren was born on August 30, 1937. He raced from 1958 to his death on June 2, 1970. On a good note though, he died doing what he loved, racing. His Can-Am car crashed on the Lavant Straight on the Goodwood Circuit in England on June 2, 1970. His Can-Am car, the McLaren M8D, lost some of the rear end, causing the car to lose downforce and take to the air and into some bunkers, killing him instantly. Bruce was born in New Zealand. In 2006, the Istituto Europeo di Design revealed their concepts. In 2009, Matt Williams' LM5 concept was unveiled. McLaren Automotive is said to be working on the convertible version of the MP4-12C and the "Baby McLaren(P13)".
