2004 Chevy Corvette Z06, LeMans, SOLD!
2004 Chevy Corvette Z06, LeMans, For Sale.
We are pleased to be offering this pristine Commemorative Edition Z06.
This is a low mileage one-owner motorcar bought new and fully serviced in
Temecula, California at Paradise Chevrolet. The Commemorative Edition Z06
(Code RPO Z16) was built to celebrate the amazing success Corvette
sustained at the 24 hour race at LeMans. This Z06 was the first production
car to be built in North America with a painted carbon fiber hood. 2004
was also the last year of the incredible C5 model Z06.
This car is offered in its original livery of LeMans Blue with the
Commemorative Edition striping only available on the Z06 in 2004. Being
serial number 116759, this is the 245th out of the 2,025 Commemorative
Edition motorcars produced.
The Z06 was offered with the famous LS6 5.7 liter V-8 with 405 bhp. This
awe inspiring power is combined with a quick shifting 6-speed manual
transmission and a special Commemorative Edition rear end ratio of 3.42.
The Z06 is a performance machine that is refined enough to make an
incredibly reliable and comfortable daily driver. Look at the performance
specifications below for this motorcar:
0-60 mph 3.9 sec
0-100 mph 9.2 sec
0-100-0 mph 13.56 sec
1/4 Mile 11.9 sec
Skid Pad 1.03 G
Top Speed 171 mph (275 km/h)
Nürburgring Nordschleife Lap Time
The 2004 Z06 was one of a very few cars that had performance figures this
impressive. The only cars that could come close would cost at least two to
three times the price. And all this performance and power can achieve 28
This motorcar was bought at Paradise Chevrolet on January 20, 2004 for a
total cost of about $67,000. The owner (and my neighbor), Tim Smith, was a
serial Corvette owner having had several Corvettes over the years. When
the new 350Z was introduced he acquired one believing that this could be a
terrific replacement for his love for Corvettes. Well, it was only a
matter of weeks before he realized that he had made a mistake, dumped the
350Z and bought this gorgeous Z06. It has been always meticulously
maintained and typically remained covered in a garage.
We have enjoyed driving this car and it looks and drives as-new. This is
an easy to drive motorcar with absolute supercar performance. This car has
benefitted from drilled and slotted brake rotors and a quick-shift short
throw transmission lever. Since Hal is our in-house Corvette aficionado,
Corvette Club member and serial Corvette owner please feel free to contact
him with questions at (951) 440-0412 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is a tremendous opportunity to acquire an almost as-new limited
edition Z06 for a great value. These cars will assuredly appreciate in the

The C5 Corvette was literally built differently than all GM products
leading up to 1997.

D.I.C. which could read diagnostic codes and display them for the driver
without a computer.
Constructing the frame rails with a process called Hydroforming. Replacing
14 parts used in the structural integrity of the C4 helping reducing the
C5's weight by 68 pounds. Hydroforming also alleviated the tall frame rails
for the C5 making it less of a chore to enter and exit then the C4. You had
to carefully step over the frame so you wouldn't scrape the interior carpet
with your shoes or worse stiletto heals. I thought it was unique and missed
it in the C5.
Third-generation LS1 V8 was overhauled to an all-aluminum block, utilizing
ignition coils replacing the distributor of all previous small-block
engines and new cylinder firing order. Rated at 345 bhp and 350 lbs. ft.
With 28 mpg highway mileage it avoided the gas guzzler tax.
Another trend set by Corvette was Run Flats Tires became standard equipment
The most important of all refinements was the transmission being moved to
the rear of the car right between the wheels aptly named trans-axle. Of
course the significance of this was Corvette now had a more even
distribution weight to the tune of 51% in front 48% in back. This may not
seem like a big deal now but in 1997 as a gearhead or an American auto
enthusiast you knew what they meant for the C5...Poising GM to enter and
compete in the Super Car market.
My personal favorite accommodation was the introduction of the Fixed Roof
Coupe for 1999.
There was a rumor back in the day that Chevy was entertaining the idea of
offering a striped down model of the Corvette allegedly nicknaming it The
Poor Man's Corvette. This was how the Fixed Roof Coupe would fit into the
future stable of Corvettes. To be honest this wasn't such a bad idea as far
as my circle of fiends were concerned, a no frills V8 Muscle Car would have
been a welcomed turnaround for the American automotive enthusiast...It may
have even made a Corvette buyer out of them.
But, it didn't happen.
What did happen was in 2001 Chevrolet used the Fix Roof Coupe body style
too debut the most impressive Vehicle GM ever envisioned...2004 Corvette
Z06 with the heart stopping LS6 hammering out 385 bhp and 385 lb·ft.
The FE4 suspension calibrated toward high speed operation was developed for
Z06 and not available on other Corvette models.
2004 Corvette Z06 boasted 405 horsepower. However,
dynamometer tests have shown that GM underrated the LS6 by 20 horsepower giving it a total
of 425 asphalt splitting horsepower and a missile
screaming 412 foot pounds of torque. 1.90 second from 0 to 60 mph. This
3,074 pound badass can shear through the quarter mile in 11.97 second, bone
stock at 118.80 mph.
