Well this was shot at the Olds Fall Nationals at Byron Dragstrip......Probley the last Nitrous pass this ole low compression 455 will ever take........I will allways be impressed with the beating this 455 took over the last 6 years.........Countless drag strip passes ( at least 40 Nitrous passes) along with the car shows,parts runs and street racing I did with it........Ole 455 you get a AAAAAAAAAAA+++++++++++! Thanks for the memories and I hope the new mill lasts half as long as you did........Iam going to freshen this ole motor up and keep it as a back up to the new mill going toghter that should be ready to drop in this spring sometime......

Hurst Lightning Rods Triple Shifter Operation - 1984 Hurst/Olds
Just a quick take on the basic operation of a triple shifter. I got my thoughts mixed up explaining the shifting sequence(s), but hopefully it makes sense. At the time the car was produced "Hurst Lightning Rods" shifter package was presented exclusively in the 83' & 84' Hurst/Olds; however they can be retro fitted to other vehicles. I also did a rolling start (30mph) to 85+, and then a 0-60.

2009 OLDSMOBILE NATIONALS WITH DR RON BEREJIK MONDELLO HEROES OF OLDS RACING IN ONE ROOM
2009 OLDSMOBILE NATIONALS HELD JULY 15-18 AT SEVEN SPRINGS PA. MANY CARS WERE OUTSIDE BUT THREE OR FOUR WERE INSIDE: DR RONS 70 W-30 OLDS 442 FORMERLY RACED AS THE LUBIK OLDS SHOWN IN THE OLD PHOTOS, THE 68 PIKES PEAK TORONADO, AND THE INLINE TUBING 70 W-31 WITH THE ALUMINUM OLDS EXPERIMENTAL ENGINE. ALSO SEEN HERE THE EXPERIMENTAL WEBER CARBED ALUMINUM 455 LISTED BELOW. JOE MONDELLO CAPTIVATED A GROUP OF MEN, HE SPOKE OF HOW HE BUILT THIS ENGINE WITH DALE SMITH. HE WARNED THAT THE SLEEVES WOULD COME OUT OF THIS ENGINE AND HOW HE TOLD DALE SMITH YET CORPORATE WOULD NOT LET THEM FIX THE PROBLEM WHICH FURTHER EXPLAINS WHY THESE ENGINES NEVER SAW THE LIGHT OF DAY. MONDELLO CLAIMS THE MOTOR WAS SHIPPED OUT TO COLORADO TO USE IN THE PIKES PEAK TORONADO BEHIIND THEM YET MONDELLO ADVISED THE ENGINE WASNT RUN LONG. IT WAS FOR SALE FOR AN UNDISCLOSED AMOUNT AND I WITNESSED A MAN WILLING TO WRITE A CHECK. MONDELLO ADVISED IF HE HAD THE ENGINE HE WOULD STRIP THE PAINT OFF AND USE IT AS AN EXHIBITION PIECE. 1. The 0W-43 all aluminum 455 with 4 valve per cylinders, four overhead cam Weber engine. With a redline of just under 8,500rpm it was originally conceived for CAN AM racing. At 3,000rpm it put out 300hp and at 6,000rpm registered over 600hp. The top output recorded for this engine in the Lansing Dyno facility was 700 real hp at 6,800rpm. Tests were run with both carbueration and fuel injection. The block was cast from Reynolds 356 alloy and fitted with pressed-in dry steel cylinder liners for the Forged-True 12.20to 1 pistons. Billet steel connecting rods by Carillo was used along with a forged steel crank. The engine weighed in at 50 pounds lighter than the production 455 motor! It was developed at the same time as the ZL-1 Chevy 427 motor.
