A collection of footage from the St. Mary's Trophy races for saloon cars of the fifties at the 2012 Goodwood Revival. These hugely varied tin-tops always provide exciting on-track action and this year featured a fine battle between cars as flamboyant as Mk1 Jaguars, Austin A40s, a fine BMW 700 and the unique V8, rear engined Tatra.

Shelby Cup Cobra Race, Goodwood Revival 2012
To celebrate Carroll Shelby's magnificent Ferrari beating Cobra's fiftieth
anniversary, the 2012 Goodwood Revival played host to an inspiring one-make
race of his fabulous creations. Lasting forty five minutes for two drivers,
crowds were wowed by the sound of the biggest gathering of such machines
ever in the UK. Victory was taken by the Hall brothers ahead of the Dutch
pairing of Tom Colonel and David Hart in second and Ludovic Caron and
Anthony Reid in third.
Back to the real worl, some clips from Historic racing, starting with the
late and much missed Tom Wheatcroft spinning his BRM V16, some Touring Cars
from Donington, and events at Silverstone and Goodwood. Enjoy
Goodwood Revival 2010, St Mary's Trophy, Race One
Race one of the St Mary's Trophy for saloon cars raced between 1950 and
1959. Martin Brundle was the highlight of the race for me, moving up from
4th place to challenge for the lead in his Austin A35 (car# 1), before
contact with the leader punctured a tyre and ultimately put him out of the
race. His efforts were more than appreciated by the crowd though! Tom
Kristensen took the victory in his first visit to the Revival (driving an
Austin A95 Westminster), after a good race with Patrick Watts (in the Volvo
Amazon 122S) was cut short by mechanical failure.
