Mazda 787B Goodwood Festival of Speed 2011
This is the 1991 Le Mans winning Mazda 787B at the start line of the 2011
Goodwood Festival of Speed. You can get a good idea of the sound this thing
produced by watching the the marshal at the right rear when the car
Mark Ticehurst at the wheel.
2 of The Best Sounding Cars in the World!
(Turn your speakers up!) The Matra 670 with its screaming V12 and the Mazda
787B are, in my opinion, are two of the greastest sounding cars. Here they
are blasting up the hill at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed 2011.
Unfortunately the 787B wasnt going full whack though luckily the Matra was.

An incredible engineering feat and incredible engine.
Mazda 787B Startup - Goodwood Festival of Speed 2011
Warming up in the Cathederal Paddock on Sunday morning 3rd July 2011.
Loud? I've stood next to plenty of F1 cars and this was certtainly no
Although it has only a 9000rpm max engine speed, with 12 combustion cycles
PER REVOLUTION (unlike a 4 stroke V12 whihc would only have 6) this car
produces 108,000 combustion cycles per minute. That is 36,000 more than a
current 2.4l F1 car at 18000rpm!
This is the only real running 787B, there is however a second car which
sports the same detailing (even down to Le Mans 1991 driver names) which is
in much better (less faded, and less battle scars) whihc is used as a PR
car. This car was a static display on the Mazda Cars UK stand also at
Goodwood that day.
