The War At The Shore USAC Vs. ASCS Sprint Car A-Main at Santa Maria Speedway!!!
Watch in HD!!!
On July 7th, 2012, at Santa Maria Speedway in Nipomo, CA, The Doug Fort
Memorial had a classic grudge match for the 360 wingless sprint cars. "The
War At The Shore" pitted the USAC West Coast Sprint Cars against the ASCS
Canyon Regional Sprints from Arizona. The night though was ruled by the
local boys as "The Kruser" Cory Kruseman from Ventura picked up the win and
the bragging rights for the year. After the end of the last caution, the
hometown hero "Showtime" Danny Sheridan lost his brakes and held off the
hard charging Ryan Bernal to take the runner up position that night.
Overall, a great night of racing with a lot of action around the track.

Baughman Plans to Park Sprint Car After Dust Up with Herrera at Texas
by Inside Line Promotions
FORT WORTH, Texas | Sept. 25, 2013 -- Josh Baughman has made a decision to
park his sprint car after a wild night last Saturday at Texas Motor
Baughman and Johnny Herrera collided on the opening lap of their Lucas Oil
ASCS National Tour heat race at the Port-a-Cool U.S. Dirt Track
Championship. The contact damaged the steering on Baughman's car and he
held on to finish eighth.
After the heat race the drivers pulled into the infield and Baughman said
he went to nudge Herrera's car from behind only to have both cars lock
together when Baughman said Herrera slammed on the brakes.
"When I did it he completely locked the car up," Baughman said. "When it
did it killed the car and it escalated from there. My intention wasn't to
stop and fight Johnny Herrera. He came over and shoved me."
The duo had a short-term fight in the infield and Baughman was disqualified
from the event, forcing him to leave the facility.
"Should I have been the only one penalized? I don't think so," he said. "If
the pages were turned and I hopped out of my car and ran over to him I
would have been penalized. I don't take anything away from Johnny. I've
watched him do the same thing earlier in the year and nothing happened to
"I don't go to the races to fight. With nothing being done on the series'
end it's just going to continue. I'm parking my stuff for the rest of this
Baughman said he might compete in a few non-ASCS sprint car races in the
final months of this season and he plans on driving one of Andrew Felker's
midgets at the Chili Bowl Nationals next January.
"Before Saturday night happened I was gearing up to run the whole national
tour next year," Baughman said. "I'm not going to do anything with the way
it is now. I race to have fun."
