How To Replace a Front Wheel Drive Axle - EricTheCarGuy
If you start to notice your FWD vehicle clicking when you make a tight turn, you might have an issue with the outer CV joint. If you make a right turn, it's usually the left side that's bad and vice versa. Most axles are easy to replace and the one depicted in this video is fairly typical of what you run into. The main differences come in with how the lower ball joint is attached. I think this part will give you the most trouble. I often get asked about what to torque the axle nut to. To be hones, I don't know. I've only ever run them down with my impact. I've never had an issue doing it that way and I don't think you would either. Just be sure to stake the nut or install the cotter pin and retaining clip if it has one. If you'd like more information on how to deal with suspension noises, check out this article I wrote on the topic. http://www.ericthecarguy.com/faq/diagnosing-noises-in-your-car Video on CV boot replacement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-S-ofMoWsr0 The best place for answers to your automotive questions: http://www.ericthecarguy.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/EricTheCarGuy?fref=ts Twitter: https://twitter.com/EricTheCarGuy Google+: https://plus.google.com/100195180196698058780/posts Information on Premium Membership: https://www.ericthecarguy.com/premium-content-streaming-etcg-content Stay Dirty ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information.  EricTheCarGuy assumes no liability for property damage or injury incurred as a result of any of the information contained in this video. EricTheCarGuy recommends safe practices when working with power tools, automotive lifts, lifting tools, jack stands, electrical equipment, blunt instruments, chemicals, lubricants, or any other tools or equipment seen or implied in this video.  Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, no information contained in this video shall create any express or implied warranty or guarantee of any particular result.  Any injury, damage or loss that may result from improper use of these tools, equipment, or the information contained in this video is the sole responsibility of the user and not EricTheCarGuy.

Front Alignment Check
Update. The question comes up about the caliper I use.. its a cheap plastic one like this. http://www.harborfreight.com/6-inch-utility-caliper-7914.html I have a nice digital one too, but the cheap one works fine. How to check and adjust your front toe alignment on a mitubishi evo 8. The evo has an equal front and rear track which makes this an easy process. Save yourself $100 and do this at home every 6 months. Driving can cause your alignment to go out every once in a while. A poor alignment, especially toe thats far from zero, will chew up your expensive tires quick. And if you track your car, you'll get better performance by setting an agressive alignment. Knowing how to adjust your own alignment means you can set it back to "normal" for everyday driving.

How to Change a Wheel Bearing (long and detailed version)
This video shows how to change a pressed bearing in a Ford, specifically a 95 Ford Windstar, but this method will be similar for all pressed bearing vehicles. The main steps are to take off the spindle nut, tire, brake caliper, and rotor. Then remove the bolts from the lower control arm ball joint, tie rod, and strut. Remove the steering knuckle, then press out the bearing and hub/spindle. Then press in your new bearing and hub/spindle. This job is a little more complex but can still be easily done by any amateur mechanic. You will save $400-800 depending on your vehicle. 2003 Mazda Front Wheel Bearing Replacement (Press In Type Bearing)
Wheel bearing replacement in a 2003 Mazda Protege 5. Press in style bearings done without using a shop press. Specific for Mazda Protege, but many of the techniques will apply to vehicles with pres-in-style wheel bearings. It's a good idea to try to use the bearing-press-kit the way it was intended. If the bearing doesn't budge, BE CAREFUL using a breaker bar. The bolt supplied with the press-kit is not very strong...it with probably shear off the head. Try to give the bearin a few hits with a sledge hammer as seen in the vid..it will get the bearing moving. Then you can use the press-kit, and it should finish pressing out the bearing. Pressing in the bearing with the kit should be no problem.

Pressed wheel bearing replacement (without a press...)
The bearing is 24 years old and has 155 000 kms. It was quite easy thanks to a "special" trick. No press used : ) and the only annoying task was to remove the outer race with a hammer and a chisel.
