If you start to notice your FWD vehicle clicking when you make a tight turn, you might have an issue with the outer CV joint. If you make a right turn, it's usually the left side that's bad and vice versa. Most axles are easy to replace and the one depicted in this video is fairly typical of what you run into. The main differences come in with how the lower ball joint is attached. I think this part will give you the most trouble. I often get asked about what to torque the axle nut to. To be hones, I don't know. I've only ever run them down with my impact. I've never had an issue doing it that way and I don't think you would either. Just be sure to stake the nut or install the cotter pin and retaining clip if it has one. Update. The question comes up about the caliper I use.. its a cheap plastic one like this. http://www.harborfreight.com/6-inch-utility-caliper-7914.html I have a nice digital one too, but the cheap one works fine. How to check and adjust your front toe alignment on a mitubishi evo 8. The evo has an equal front and rear track which makes this an easy process. Save yourself $100 and do this at home every 6 months. Driving can cause your alignment to go out every once in a while. A poor alignment, especially toe thats far from zero, will chew up your expensive tires quick. And if you track your car, you'll get better performance by setting an agressive alignment. Knowing how to adjust your own alignment means you can set it back to "normal" for everyday driving.





2003 Mazda Front Wheel Bearing Replacement (Press In Type Bearing)
Wheel bearing replacement in a 2003 Mazda Protege 5. Press in style bearings done without using a shop press. Specific for Mazda Protege, but many of the techniques will apply to vehicles with pres-in-style wheel bearings. It's a good idea to try to use the bearing-press-kit the way it was intended. If the bearing doesn't budge, BE CAREFUL using a breaker bar. The bolt supplied with the press-kit is not very strong...it with probably shear off the head. Try to give the bearin a few hits with a sledge hammer as seen in the vid..it will get the bearing moving. Then you can use the press-kit, and it should finish pressing out the bearing. Pressing in the bearing with the kit should be no problem.

I didn't show the installation for 2 reasons on this, first, I just didn't have the time to shoot it, and second I recommend pressing new bearings on rather than hammering them into place (I don't have a press yet). I would say that hammering them is OK but you risk damage to the bearing and if that happens it is a lot of work and more money to fix it. Be sure to wear your safety glasses! How to Find a Bad Wheel Bearing - EricTheCarGuy Well as I said in the video I shot this some time ago but never posted it. I've been snowed in for a couple of days so I haven't been to the shop to make some new video so I decided to bring this one up from the vault. The idea is to give you some basic information on how to find a bad wheel bearing, replacing it once you find it is another story but diagnosing is the first step. Now, another way to find out if you have a limited slip is to jack up both sides of the car and rotate one of the drive wheels. If the wheel on the opposite side moves in the same direction you probably have a limited slip differential. If the wheel spins in the opposite direction you probably have a regular differential that is not limited slip. As I said in the video a bunch of times be careful doing this, use the parking brake and brace the rear wheels with something. I know you'll do the right thing. Replacing an Accord Wheel Bearing Ok, here it is finally. A few of you have requested this procedure so here it is. As I said in the video I normally use a different method of removing the hub from the bearing assembly by using a slide hammer. I also normally use a press to reinstall the hub into the new bearing instead of hitting it with a hammer. Life is not perfect and we sometimes have to improvise as I did here. I know a few of you will ask about the size fasteners that I used to hammer the bearing out, I used hardened (8.8) 10x1.25 bolts to do the job. Pressed wheel bearing replacement (without a press...)
The bearing is 24 years old and has 155 000 kms. It was quite easy thanks to a "special" trick. No press used : ) and the only annoying task was to remove the outer race with a hammer and a chisel.
