The Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 constitutes a revolution in
efficiency, safety and networking, a revolution for road traffic and its
infrastructure, for professional driving and for the road transport sector.
This is not a new truck, but rather the key element in the interconnected
transport system of the future. It is being developed as part of the
"Shaping Future Transportation" initiative by Daimler Trucks to conserve
resources and reduce emissions of all kinds. Other aims are to ensure the
highest possible level of traffic safety and to Boost networking with intelligent data
management considerably for tailor-made vehicle and service solutions.
The prototype demonstrated the exciting capabilities of the
Future Truck 2025 back in the summer at speeds of up to 80 km/h in
realistic traffic situations on a section of the A14 motorway in Magdeburg,
Germany. Now the thrilling exterior and interior of that same vehicle are
One of the most interesting questions on the subject of autonomous driving
is the time horizon envisaged for its realisation. In purely technical
terms, turning it into reality on the roads is already feasible within
around five years. In terms of passenger car development cycles, a possible
start is envisaged in 2020. Owing to the more complex factors for heavy
commercial vehicles, the time horizon for such vehicles will, however, be
rather longer – realistically implementation is possible within ten
years, also in view of the legal considerations that still remain to be

day to the next, as development is progressing in a gradual manner:
evolutionary stages are necessary to revolutionise goods haulage on the
roads. In the coming years, new and improved assistance systems will
continue to pave the clearly set-out way to autonomous driving.

2011 CL 63 AMG V8 Biturbo Top Speed 341 km/h / 212 mph Vmax
I have upgraded from my BMW M6 to the new 2011 CL63 AMG. This one is a real
"Monster". With the help of Lukas Domogalla from kold-fire.com this "Beast"
has now approx. 660hp and 1050Nm of Torque. 0-200 km/h in 12sec. Vmax of
approx. 345km/h. The conditions in that movie were still not perfect.
Outside temperature was -3°C. The track had no grip too.Enjoy this the

Porsche 918 - Record Nurburgring 6.57 - ONBOARD FULL RACE - THE BEST
Porsche 918 - Record Nurburgring 6.57 - As the first vehicle to boast
global road homologation, the Porsche 918 Spyder* has conquered the
20.6-kilometre lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife in less than seven
minutes. Achieving a time of exactly six minutes and 57 seconds, the super
sportscar equipped with a hybrid drive shaved 14 seconds off the previous
record. Wolfgang Hatz, member of the Porsche AG Board of Management in
charge of Research and Development, had the following to say: "We promised
a great deal with the 918 Spyder, namely to redefine driving pleasure,
efficiency and performance. We have kept our word."
As is always the case with Porsche, the 918 Spyder is also leading the way
for future generations as the latest in the line of super sportscars. It is
currently making its global début at the International Motor Show (IAA).
With its unique spread, the model blends maximum driving dynamics with
minimal fuel consumption. By taking the Nürburgring record, the sportscar
is demonstrating the enormous potential that lies in Porsche's pioneering
plug-in hybrid concept, and is underpinning the leading role the company
enjoys when it comes to developing sporty hybrid vehicles. "The radical
hybridisation of the 918 Spyder from the very outset is what made this lap
record possible" says Dr. Frank Walliser, head of the 918 Spyder project.
"The lap time on the Nordschleife is and remains the toughest measure of a
super sportscar. Posting a time of 6.57 minutes, we achieved a result of
which everyone in the development team and at Porsche as a whole is rightly
The record, which was previously held for four years, was even broken
during the first attempt in the test drive on the morning of September 4.
All three drivers -- Former European Rally Champion Walter Röhrl, Porsche
test driver Timo Kluck and Porsche factory driver Marc Lieb -- were quicker
than the existing record with each lap driving the two 918 Spyder models
used, and posted lap times of less than seven minutes on numerous
occasions. Ultimately, it was Marc Lieb who posted the absolute best time
of 6.57 minutes, driving at an average speed of 179.5 km/h, as measured by
Wige Solutions. Marcus Schurig, editor-in-chief of sportscar magazine
"sport auto", was on hand as an objective observer of the record-breaking
runs. The two sportscars, which deliver an output of 887 bhp (652 kW), were
equipped with the optional "Weissach package" to increase the driving
dynamics, and lead out on the standard Michelin tyres developed
specifically for the 918 Spyder.

2025 thus marks a revolution for road traffic and its infrastructure, the

The Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 is far more than a remote vision. The
truck should be on our roads in ten years' time. Many of its technological
elements are already available and ready to use.

Development on the W140 began in 1981, originally set for an autumn 1989
release. From 1982 to 1986 several designs were reviewed, until December
1986 when the final design was approved. Several prototypes were tested
onwards from early 1987. A delay was made to accommodate a V12 engine and
resulted in the final prototype being completed in June 1990. Pilot
production models were made from July 1990 to January 1991. In 1991, to
compete with the Lexus LS 400, a series of additional features were rushed
for the launch of the W140. The W140 introduced innovations such as
double-pane window glazing, power-assisted closing for doors and boot lid,
electric windows which lowered back down upon encountering an obstruction,
rear-parking markers which rose from the rear wings (discontinued on later
vehicles, and replaced with sonar-assisted parking) and a heating system
which, if desired, continued to emit warm air after the engine was turned
off. For details like this, the W140 is often known as the last Mercedes to
be "overengineered," a Mercedes trait that was costing the company in
product delays and overbudgeting. According to Motor Trend, this action
reportedly caused project cost overruns and resulted in the departure of
Wolfgang Peter, Daimler-Benz's chief engineer. The vehicle is believed
to have cost Mercedes-Benz over $1 billion to develop. For the consumer,
the W140 cost a considerable 25 percent more than its predecessor, the
The W140 was to feature air-suspension as an option, but it was dropped
shortly before launch because Mercedes was still perfecting the technology
at the time. Mercedes chose to launch air-suspension in the next generation
S-Class in 2000. The W140 instead used a hydropneumatic rear suspension,
first introduced on the W126 to be used on the S500 and S600 models.
Following the mid-year facelift in 1994, Mercedes-Benz made Electronic
Stability Control an optional fixture to both sedan and coupé body styles
in the W140 range. Both the sedan and coupé body styles were equipped with
Acceleration Slip Regulation (ASR) as a standard feature.
Like its predecessor, the car was available in two wheelbase lengths (short
W140 and long V140) along with the C140 coupé. In 1992, a new 6 litre 402
engine joined the lineup for the first time with the 600SEL and 600SEC. A
"V12" badge was affixed to the C-pillar.
In 1993, the 402 horsepower V12 engine was
slightly detuned to 389 horsepower to comply with
tighter emission control regulations in the United States and Europe. The
V8 models were tuned down from 322 horsepower to 315 horsepower.
The W140 600SEL was available with wooden rear ash tray covers,
wood/leather shift knob, leather dashboard and a suede headliner, unlike
the V8 and inline 6-cylinder models. Following the facelift in 1994, the
rebadged S600 was updated with a wood/leather steering wheel, a V12 badge
on the wood/leather shifter, double needle stitching all over the interior
and two tone nappa leather seating -- further distinctions from its lower
Following the new Mercedes-Benz tradition of mid-life facelifts (starting
with the W126 in 1986), the W140 received a minor facelift in 1994. The
clear turn signal indicator lenses on the front were the most obvious
change, as was the grille including a new and distinctive one for S600's.
Headlamps were fitted with separate low H7, H1 fog, and high H1 beam
reflectors in 1995, pre 1995 used an H4 bulb and H3 for the fog lamp. In
April 1995, "Parktronic" replaced the parking guiders on the rear boot lid.
In June 1996, the two tone exterior bumpers were painted to match the upper
portions of the vehicles and the rear indicator lenses became clear.
