1972 Mercury Capri V6 2600 startup ......and it's for sale !
This was my first car purchased in 1978. I drove it stock for a few years then in 1981 I did a restoration (body work, paint, suspension, engine, trans.) . I took off the stock rally wheels and bias tires and put on some aluminum slot mag wheels with radials. I installed an ANSA dual sport Exhaust system with twin Ferrari resonator tips which improved the performance and it sounded great! Put air shocks in the back so I could lower the rear a bit to improve handling. I installed a high power stereo (hey it was 1981!) and this thing was powerful at that time. I made a custom speaker enclosure to fit on the parcel shelf. I installed a set of aluminum rear window louvers and that set off the styling nicely...at least I liked them ! The car handled great, the V6 and 4 speed made for a really quick and nimble sports car. Plus it was very reliable for a 70's import. The only issues I had was loosing a sync gear in the trans and it liked to go through front end bushings.. The interior is in great shape but the dash is cracked. Actually I think they all cracked after 4-5 years unless the car never saw the sunshine! The body has some spots coming through but it's not in terrible shape. The entire underside was undercoated. Normal maintenance was performed over the years but along with belts, hoses, etc... etc will need the front calipers rebuilt as the are sticking. Otherwise it runs and drives good. This is for sale if anyone is interested.

1973 Mercury (Ford) Capri 2000, 4-Speed --- "The Sexy European" --- FOR SALE
1973 Mercury (Ford) Capri 2000. 4-Speed -- "The Sexy European". Factory medium brown metallic with original black vinyl roof and decor group. A museum-quality 'survivor' with only 30,175 actual miles, housed in a climate-controlled environment for the last 13 years. 2nd owner, garaged kept since purchased new in 1973, and never used as primary transportation. Photos Can Be Viewed Here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/38070621@N04/ Vehicle never smoked in, no mildew odors, no road accidents, or any rust; all original paint, trim, glass, entire interior, vinyl roof, engine, drivetrain, etc., each in outstanding condition. Normal wear items -- tires, shocks, battery, master brake cylinder, brake lines, brake components, filters, etc., replaced at 25,000 miles or periodically with FoMoCo or OEM replacement parts. Original Dunlop spare in trunk; Dunlop replacements on car in correct size. Professionally maintained by Pterodactyl Racing, a premier vintage racing organization. Currently insured/appraised by classic car insurer at $15,750 -- with historic tags. Documentation, manuals, and spares with purchase. Please note, this is not some tarted-up, so-called restoration; this vehicle drives, rides, handles and looks like a nearly new Capri, with only a few imperfections and limited modifications such as a Momo period-correct steering wheel. If you want the Capri from your past, without the expense (and headaches) of a costly restoration, this Capri is for you. Only a handful of imported European Mk. 1 Capris (1970-1973) in the U.S. are in this stunning condition. First place winner at several car shows.
