Smokey and the Bandit is a 1977 action comedy film starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jackie Gleason, Jerry Reed, Pat McCormick, Paul Williams, and Mike Henry. It inspired several other trucking films, including two sequels, Smokey and the Bandit II, and Smokey and the Bandit Part 3.
There were also a series of 1994 television films (Bandit Goes Country, Bandit Bandit, Beauty and the Bandit, and Bandit's Silver Angel) from original director/writer Hal Needham loosely based on the earlier version, with actor Brian Bloom now playing Bandit. The three original films introduced two generations of the Pontiac Trans Am. The film was the fourth highest-grossing film of 1977.
Rich Texas wheeler-dealer Big Enos Burdette and his son, Little Enos, are trying to find a truck driver willing to haul Coors beer to Georgia for their refreshment. At the time, Coors was only distributed in certain states west of the Mississippi River, and truck drivers who had taken the bet previously had been discovered and arrested by "Smokey" (truck driver and CB slang for highway patrolmen). At a local truck rodeo, the Texans locate legendary truck driver Bo "Bandit" Darville and offer him US$80,000, the price of a new truck, to haul 400 cases of Coors beer from Texarkana, Texas to the "Southern Classic" in Georgia -- in 28 hours, driving a total of 1,800 mi (2,900 km) (This was an artistic liberty, as Texarkana, Texas, is located in a dry county and Coors was not legally sold there, and the trip is actually only 1260 miles.)
Bandit accepts the bet and recruits fellow truck driver Cledus "Snowman" Snow to drive the truck; Snow brings along his dog, a Basset Hound named "Fred", for company. After requesting an advance from the Burdettes for a "speedy car", Bandit purchases a black Pontiac Trans Am, which he will drive himself as a "blocker" car to deflect attention away from the truck and its cargo. The duo reach Texas ahead of schedule, load their truck with Coors, and immediately head back towards Georgia. Shortly thereafter, Bandit picks up professional dancer and apparent runaway bride Carrie, whom he nicknames "Frog" because (in her anxiety) she was "always hopping around". However, by picking up Carrie, Bandit becomes the target of Texas Sheriff Buford T. Justice, "a respectable law officer of over thirty years seniority", whose handsome yet very simple-minded son Junior was to have been Carrie's groom.
The remainder of the film is essentially one big high-speed chase, as Bandit and Frog attract continuous attention from local and state police throughout

On September 26, 2007, NBC announced that it was creating a two-hour
backdoor pilot to air later that season. In the new version, Justin
Bruening stars as the estranged son of Michael Knight, Mike Traceur.
Deanna Russo plays Traceur's one-time girlfriend and love interest, Sarah
Graiman. Bruce Davison co-stars as her father, physicist Charles
Graiman, the original designer of KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand).
Wayne Kasserman co-stars as Mike's roommate and friend. David Hasselhoff
also has a cameo as Michael Knight. The new KITT (Knight Industries
Three Thousand) is portrayed as a Ford Shelby GT 500 KR Mustang.
Supervising producer Dave Andron wrote the pilot script, Doug Liman and
Dave Bartis executive produced it. NBC announced on December 13, 2007
that the 2-hour pilot would air on February 17, 2008. Val Kilmer recorded
the voice for the new KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand) Mustang, after Will Arnett, who
initially won the role, was asked to withdraw by General Motors due to his
prior advertising agreements with them. Sydney Tamiia Poitier, the
youngest daughter of Sidney Poitier, played FBI agent Carrie Rivai.
After receiving good ratings, NBC announced that Knight Rider would return
as a weekly series beginning in the fall of 2008. The show aired Wednesdays
at 8:00pm/7:00pm CT. The series premiered September 24, 2008 on NBC. In
November 2008, NBC announced that the series had been picked up for a
complete 22-episode season but that several cast members would be leaving
and the story lines revamped after the original 13-episode order. On
May 19, 2009, NBC announced that Knight Rider was canceled after one season
because of poor ratings.
The 2008 update to Knight Rider includes a new KITT -- the acronym now
standing for "Knight Industries Three Thousand". The KITT platform is
patterned on a Shelby GT500KR and differs from the original Two Thousand
unit in several ways. For example, the 2008 KITT utilizes nano-technology,
allowing the car's outer shell to change colors and morph itself into
similar car forms temporarily. The nanotech platform is written as
needing the AI active in order to produce any of these effects, unlike the
original car's gadgets and "molecular bonded shell" which allowed it to
endure extreme impacts. These down-sides to the use of nanotech have been

A collection of videos that I found on YouTube featuring the 1966
Batmobile, the 1989 Batmobile, the General Lee from "Dukes of Hazzard," the
car from "Smokey and the Bandit," and the car from "Starsky & Hutch."
These cars are pitted against each other to see which one is faster; the two Batmobiles race against each
other, the General Lee races The Bandit, and the General Lee races against
the car from the TV show "Starsky & Hutch."

lee vs smokey and the bandit trans am, general lee vs the green hornet,
general lee vs the back to the future delorean. General Lee is the Dodge
Charger driven by the Duke cousins Bo and Luke in the television series The
Dukes of Hazzard. It is known for the chases and stunts, especially high
jumps, in almost every episode, and for having the doors welded shut,
leaving the Dukes to climb in and out through the windows. The car appears
in every episode but one ("Mary Kaye's Baby"). The car's name is a
reference to the Confederate General Robert E. Lee, and indeed the vehicle
embodies the Southern United States, bearing as it does a Confederate naval
jack on its roof and a horn which plays the melody from the first line of
the song "Dixie".
The idea for the General Lee was developed from the famous bootlegger Jerry
Rushing's car, which was named for Lee's favorite horse, Traveller.
Traveller was also the name of the car in Moonrunners, the 1975 movie
precursor to The Dukes of Hazzard.
Engines in the TV show General Lees varied; 318, 383, and 440 CID V8s big
blocks were used. None of the TV series cars had the 426 HEMI. However, the
"close-up" Lees (except for the first one) were 383-powered. The special
purpose built "Ski Car" (the car that was used for stunts involving driving
on the left side or right side wheels with the opposite side wheels in the
air) had a 318, as it was lighter weight. Most of the 'workhorse' stunt
cars had 318s and 440s. The stunt drivers tended to prefer 440s (a higher
performance engine) for jumps, so 440-powered stunt Lees were often saved
for the higher bobby and longer jumps. Also, though early sound effects led
many people to believe otherwise, only a handful of Chargers had manual
transmissions; most had 727 TorqueFlite automatic transmissions. Also, in
The Dukes of Hazzard motion picture, Cooter replaced the General's original
engine with a Hemi.
