Laminated windscreen, all-round tinted glass, childproof locks on rear doors, bright grille surround, protective bumper inserts with overriders, tobacco vinyl roof, bright Exhaust trim, ghia badging, tachometer, trip recorder, chrome gearshift lever, cut pile carpet, loop pile carpet on foot of doors, head restraints, real wood fascia, remote control drivers door mirror, quartz clock, vanity mirror on sun visor, glove box.
The exterior of this Mk2 Escort is impeccable in every respect. Finished in Diamond White it has a deep, gloss shine which is amazing and an absolute pleasure to polish. The colour code and description sticker is still present in the spotless boot. The Tobacco vinyl roof is unmarked. Supplying Ford Dealer, M & J Quick Ltd pressed aluminium number plates are present. This Dealer branding even extends to the Tax disc holder and window sticker for the true enthusiast. No marks, dings, blemishes or imperfections can be found. It has no stone chips. All the trim is perfect, window rubbers are black and all decals are correct and present including the Ghia badges. The bronze tinted glass is mark free but a few marks can just be seen on the front screen. Paperwork included in the comprehensive history file reveals that the car was treated to Cadulac corrosion application at a cost of £28.75 in addition to Zibart treatment when new. The Zibart plug holes can be seen in all the doors and sills explaining why when detailed in 2010 only two new outer wing panels were fitted. This nut and bolt detailing extends to the under body allowing onlookers to be amazed when mirrors are placed under this vehicle if the new owner chooses to show the car in this way. A very slight colour mismatch exists.
The interior of this Escort Ghia is outstanding and as new. The twin reclining front seats are covered in the luxurious Crushed Velour/Verona Chocolate Fabric with no damage. All the headlining is tight and clean, all the gauges including the fascia mounted clock operate as does the two speed heater fan. There is a minor mark on the passenger sunvisor. The boot area including carpet, spare wheel and tools are as new. This car really is a beautiful, unspoilt place to be and exactly how Ford intended.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1599cc OHC with twin venturi carburettor and a 4-branch Exhaust manifold performs faultlessly producing 86bhp. Factory standard specification including a high lift camshaft and larger valves make this car a modern classic. The only modification is hardened valves so the car can run safely on unleaded fuel. It is a testament to the thousands spent that the engine bay is a visual delight with every component spotlessly clean just like the day it rolled off the production line. Opening the bonnet on this car will produce a gasp to fellow admirers that the new owner will enjoy time and time again. The four speed close ratio gearbox is precise, light and a joy to use.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This vehicle it fitted with the factory correct and immaculate 13" silver painted sports road wheels with bright rim embellishers. Five brand new Pirelli P3000 155/80 R13 tyres have been fitted. The dual line servo assisted brakes operate faultlessly.
Purchased new by Mr Arthur D Burgoyne on the 1st October 1979 from Ford Dealer, M & J Quick in Manchester he owned the car for over 30 years. Entrusted by Mr Burgoyne to S.A Sullivan Engineers for all maintenance and servicing for over 20 years, he promised the proprietor first refusal if and when he sold the car. On acquisition the preserved Escort was detailed to show level before being sold to the second custodian, Mr Darnell. Available now due to the owners desire to downsize his collection and purchase an immaculate Mk 1 Ford Escort Twin Cam this car presents its self as probably one of the finest available for a lucky new keeper to cherish.
All the original Ford manuals are present including, Ford Car Owner Handbook, Ford Escort Operating Guide, Ford Escort Accessory Book, and the Vehicle Rustproofing Certificate. All keys are present on Ford key fob and fit all doors, boot and ignition.

Finished in striking Daytona Yellow this genuine Mexico is outstanding.
Impeccable detailing extending to the underside and engine bay will please
the most critical of owners and onlookers. Vital components such as the
rear stone deflector held in by eight bolts in the boot floor and
strengthened AVO workmanship are laid bare for all to see. The chrome,
glass, and badges are in immaculate order and rare period stickers remain
intact. Tiny markings exist to some of the Mexico stripes and the rear
valance around the Exhaust is slightly
chipped. Years of attending shows and fastidious polishing has worn the
paint thin in areas but has never prevented the car being annually highly
commended at the prestigious Ford AVO National Days. Amazing in every
respect and one for the collector.
True in every manner to a genuine Ford Mexico Custom Pack interior
presented in a preserved and undamaged condition. The pristine door cards,
headlining and dash top material reveals the pampered life this RS Mexico
has enjoyed. The rare Kienzle clock housed within an uncut RS centre
console joins the sports instrumentation providing at a glance concise
information. The brushed nylon RS sports seats with optional headrests and
RS button logos match a spotless and original loop pile black carpet
throughout. A discreet Kenlowe fan switch and screen washer switch are
mainly out of view. The boot area continues the showroom experience with
an unused spare wheel and a car jack complete with stickers neatly wrapped
in the original hessian bag. A standard virtually impossible to replicate
at any cost.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Prepare for gasps of amazement as onlookers marvel under the bonnet of this
Escort Mexico. The GT crossflow unit with the 711M block has been worked
on by renown Vulcan Engineering with the aim of originality in their Vulcan
Maxiflow 1 including conversion of the cylinder head to run on unleaded.
Near impossible to source and correct components grace this engine from the
obvious late brake reservoir to the inconspicuous dipstick bracket. Minor
chrome detailing such as the bonnet catch complete the spotless engine bay.
Expect performance of the 1690cc engine to easily match the quoted 85bhp
with 0 to 60mph in 10.7 seconds and a top speed over 100mph. The
four-speed gearbox has bronze lower bushes and an AP uprated clutch
offering perfect changes every time.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Correctly dated 5 ½ J X 13" RS alloy wheels are pristine and shod in
matching Falken 185/60R tyres. An unused spare is strapped and angled in
the boot with chalk marks on the tyre. The standard braking system is very
rare being dual line as found in the MK2 Ford Escorts and pulls the car to
a straight stop quickly.
Built at Fords Advanced Vehicle Operations factory in Aveley just prior to
closure this very late example was registered in August 1975. It therefore
has some unique features that are present in Mk2 Ford Escorts only adding
to the desirability for a collector. Three files of detailed history
amassed between each of the nine former keepers offer a wonderful knowledge
of the car. MOT history from the early eighties has also been retained.
The last owner of nine years, Mr Watts, searched hard for a 'genuine'
Mexico before reading a four page feature in Classic Ford about an 'as new'
car owned by Mr Crickmore since 1988. Through determined effort he
eventually persuaded Mr Crickmore to sell it to him. A copy of the feature
remains in the detailed history file! Joining his brother (who also owned
a pristine Mexico we recently sold) in attending various AVO club events
where both cars were always highly commended this truly special car
presents itself to a very lucky new owner to enjoy and continue to show if
