2003 MERCURY MARAUDER -- RARE FULL SIZE MUSCLE SEDAN
From 2003 to 2004, Ford resurrected the Marauder name as a high-performance
version of the Mercury Grand Marquis sedan. Although the Mercury division
was most directly a competitor to Buick (and before that, Oldsmobile), the
design of this Marauder drew many parallels to the 1994--1996 Chevrolet
Impala SS and the later 2006-present Dodge Charger SRT-8 in being a
contemporary full-size "muscle sedan", and both being derived from a police
vehicle: the Marauder from the Ford Crown Victoria, and the Impala SS from
the Chevrolet Caprice. The Marauder had a naturally aspirated 4.6 L V8
DOHC Ford Modular engine producing 302 hp and 318 ft·lbf of torque. In
contrast to the Grand Marquis, the interior of the Marauder featured front
bucket seats and a floor shifter with a center console; leather seats were
standard. Instead of the simulated wood trim seen in the Grand Marquis, the
Marauder substituted simulated satin aluminum trim in its place. The
instrument cluster was Marauder-specific, with satin aluminum gauges (with
a 140-mph speedometer borrowed from the Ford Police Interceptor) and the
pressed electrical board to control them are model-exclusive. To make room
for the tachometer, the oil-pressure gauges and voltmeter were moved to the
center console. The 2003--2004 Marauder sales fell short of corporate
forecasts, and after a production run of 11,052 vehicles, the Marauder was
discontinued at the end of 2004. For comparison, Mercury produced 179,723
examples of its Grand Marquis counterpart during the same time. The number
of Marauders produced per year in each color breaks down as follows: 2003
-- Total: 7838 328 Dark Pearl Blue, 417 Silver Birch, 7093 Black. 2004 --
Total: 3214, 980 Dark Toreador Red, 997 Silver Birch, 1237 Black. So, you
see here a great edition of a Mercury, not only a rare Maurauder but a
full size muscle sedan as well. Thanks very much for viewing this 2003
Mercury Marauder sedan.

1978 Mercury Grand Marquis Video 1 Owner 6.6L 400 V8 Classic Youngtimer Lincoln Town Car Ford Sedan
78 Mercury Grand Marquis 312,000 Miles Near Mint 1 Owner 6.6L 400 Big Block
Classic Youngtimer http://www.1ownercarguy.com This is a very cool car.
Usually I like cars with really low miles but this car is sol cool because
it has 312,000 original miles on it and runs like a newer car. This is only
a 1 Owner Car and yes the miles are actual. The previous owner drove the
car back and fourth from Canada to California. You would never guess the
miles by looking at the car. The factory baby blue paint is in great shape
and has a very nice shine to it. The factory white vogue top looks great on
the car and is in about as good of shape as you will find. The body is
straight as can be and the paint is original. It has the 6.6L 400 engine
that fires right up and runs great. It has been rebuilt along with many
other things on the car. I talked to the mechanics that worked on the car
and they remembered the guy and how good he took care of his car and really
liked it. You would have to really like a car to put that many miles on it.
The car feels and handles like a newer car and just floats down the road.
The interior is in mint condition along with the rest of the car. Only the
drivers seat shows minimal wear. It looks like he was the only one that
made the trips because none of the other seats look like they hardly ever
got sat in. Everything about this car is just clean as can be. You won't
find another car like this.

2013 Shelby Mustang GT500 vs Mercury Marauder
The GT 500 is on stock tires and the Marauder is on Drag Radials. Finally
got the Shelby down to a VERY traction limited 12.1 @ ~120 mph with a 1.999
60' time. Not bad for street tires. Micky Thompson Street radials and 19"
rims are on the way, but may not see the track until next spring.
SOLD 1950 Mercury Coupe Hot Rod for sale by Corvette Mike Anaheim California 92807
1950 Mercury Custom Coupe Candy Apple Red w/White interior.
If you get a bunch of gearheads in a room together and they get to talking
about what the ultimate hot rod is, inevitably there will be three
constants on the list; the '32 Ford Hi Boy Roadster, the '32 Ford 3 window
coupe and the subject of this ad; the iconic '50 Merc coupe.
The quintessential lead sled; the Merc defined the full bodied hot rod in
the '50's. Its flowing lines were a vast canvas on which customizers could
practice what was a fairly new art form back in the late '40's, early 50's.
Chopped, channeled, frenched and decked. That's what you did if you wanted
your Merc to stand out in a crowd!
And the sled being offered here does that in spades!
Designed to emulate customs made famous by legends like Sam and George
Barris, Gene Winfield and many others, this rolling piece of art has all of
the elements mentioned above, in addition to being wrapped in stunning
Candy Apple Red paint, white tuck and roll interior with a multi-carb'd
Flathead under the hood! Held in a vast private collection consisting of
only the finest custom automobiles, the work was done by Steve's Auto
Restorations using elements of Chevrolet, Pontiac, Cadillac, Olds & Kaiser.
The hardtop body has no "B" pillar, the headlights have been "Frenched",
hood corners have been rounded and of course it wouldn't be a '50's custom
without Appleton spots!
The interior features white "Tuck and Roll", laminated plastic knobs and a
'57 Olds steering wheel, power steering, a hidden audio system and solenoid
operated doors, windows and trunk The business end features a full dress
Motorhead City 1950 Flathead engine featuring an Offenhauser intake and
heads and three Stromberg '97 carbs. House of Color supplied the Candy
Apple over Gold exterior and "Von Dutch" style pinstriping. Wides whites
with full Cadillac wheel covers completes the deal!
It's an investment grade custom that spells upside in it's fortunate new
owners future. It was good enough for James Dean! Stk #N/A

Mercury Cars of 1949 to 1951
The Mercury car model has been around since 1939 and was introduced as a
mid range priced vehicle by Edsel Ford.
Cars built between 1949 and 1951, would in later years prove to be very
popular amongst the Hot Rod Car Enthusiasts. They would reshape the steel
to produce cars that would set a new standard for Customized Vehicles.
Early model Mercury cars of 1949 to 1951 had a 90 degree V type, "L" head 8
cylinder engine with a displacement of 255.4 cubic inches. These engines
put out 112 horsepower at 3600 R.P.M.
Later model cars of 1955 replaced the "L" engine with the "Y" block V-8
producing between 188 and 198 horsepower dependant on the
engine type for that year.
This slide show is a part of a series of pictures of cars from different
car shows that I've attended here in Southern California U.S.A.
