How to drift an MR2 MK-II turbo (SW20), Part 3 - English Dubbed / Letterbox version By the Drift King (DK) "Dori Dori" Keiichi Tsuchiya. The Toyota MR2 (2nd Generation 1990-1999 here) is a mid-engine rear-drive car and is very difficult to drift because of its tendency to snap oversteer (180 spin) when the rear wheels break loose. A midship design has superior handling characteristics until pushed too far, then the rear can come around very quickly. Keiichi here does the impossible and drifts even the MR2. The drifts are old style with little or no smoke. Listen for the tires squealing and look for the countersteering. From inside the car, you can see when the view is not facing the road, then you know it's sideways... Instead of a cup of water as in Initial D (Bunta), they are using the 3 red gravity balls to show the car's attitude and weight transition. Red light on front show when braking.

My buddy and I were rolling around Tokyo/Yokohama area looking for a race. This was our first race of the night. The guys in the Skyline followed us and wanted to see what was in the Integra. We stopped at Haneda for some maintenance and chat, then got haggled by the cops.

11 sec T78 powered MR2 on ET streets -VS- EG hatch with ITR motor, Toda C Cams, Traction bars and BFGS Best ET=12.6 @104. MR2 Had full interior, A/C & Power steering. The hatch was semi gutted with No A/C or PS. The MR2 would pull a best of 0-60 in 3.4 seconds on the streets while spinning a bit in 1st
