OLDSMOBILE V8 POWERED STATION WAGON TRIBUTE -- FIESTA VISTA CRUISER CUTLASS CUSTOM CRUISER
OLDSMOBILE STATION WAGON TRIBUTE. NOT ALL OLDS WAGONS ARE REPRESENTED DUE TO THE LACK OF AVAILABILITY OF SOME YEARS AND MODELS. OTHERS OMMISIONS STEM FROM THE LACK OF OLDSMOBILE POWERED ENGINES. 61-62 F-85 USED A BUICK 215 V-8, MANY 78-82 CUTLASS CRUISERS USED A STANDARD 260 OLDS V8 BUT THE 305 CHEVY V8 WAS OPTIONAL, AND THE 91-92 CUSTOM CRUISERS ARE CHEVY POWERED COOKIE CUTTER BUICK ROADMASTER CHEVY CAPRICES AS IF MOST 77 AND LATER GM CARS ARENT COOKIE CUTTER CLONES ENOUGH. I WANTED THE CLOSING SHOT TO BE THE 1990 CUSTOM CRUISER. LAST OLDS V-8, LAST CARBUERATED GM ENGINE. THE OLDS V8 HAD COME FULL CIRCLE FROM THE FIRST OVERHEAD VALVE V8 IN 1949 WITH 303 CUBIC INCHES AND 135 HP TO THE LAST CARBUERATED GM V8 WITH 307 CUBIC INCHES AND 140 HP.

1958 PLYMOUTH CUSTOM SUBURBAN STATION WAGON - VERY RARE
1957 & '58 PLYMOUTHS SOLD WELL ENOUGH BUT FEW ARE AROUND TODAY INTACT. THEY TURNED INTO RUST BUCKETS EARLY. THE '57 MODEL PLYMOUTH INTRODUCED A NEW RADICAL DESIGN AND A FEW FEATURE CHANGES GRACED THE 58'S. THE PLYMOUTH MODELS STARTING FROM THE BOTTOM WERE: PLAZA, SAVOY, BELVEDERE, SUBURBAN AND TOP OF THE LINE FURY. SUBURBAN MODELS WERE ALL STATION WAGONS. IN 1957, WAGONS SOLD 102,000 UNITS. IN 1958, WAGONS SOLD 129,000 UNITS. WITH THIS MANY STATION WAGONS SOLD IN TWO MODEL YEARS YOU WOULD THINK THERE WOULD BE MORE SURVIVORS. IT WAS THE RUST THAT DID THEM IN PARTICULARILY AROUND THE HEADLIGHT " EYEBROWS ". THIS WAGON SHOWN COSTS $2,607 AND WAS POWERED BY A V-8, 350 CID ENGINE. BUT LOOK AT THIS ORIGINAL SURVIVOR WITH JUST OVER 67,000 MILES. THE FIFTIES TYPE INTERIOR IS PERFECT. GREAT LOOKING DASH WITH THOSE WONDERFUL PUSH BUTTON CONTROLS, PERFECT SEAT UPHOSTERY, AND PERFECT HEADLINER. ALL THE CHROME AND TRIM SEEMS FLAWLESS. ALL IT NEED IS SOME BODY WORK ESPECIALLY OVER THE HEADLIGHTS, AND NEW PAINT AND THIS WOULD BE A PERFECT RESTORATION. Another rare original survivor brought to you by 55lincoln. Rambler Ambassador Cross Country 1962
This car is owned by my missus and me. It's completely original and unrestored apart from a respray about 20 years ago. Engine is the Rambler 327ci V8 and it has the optional 4bbl Holley carburator. Car also has power brakes and power steering. No AC or power windows though. Update: the transmission was leaking oil and was completely overhauled in late 2012.





1958 CHEVY NOMAD STATION WAGON - 1 OF 10 '58 WAGON CHOICES
Another example of a spectacular station wagon is viewed here. There were 3 '58 Chevy wagon models: The Yeoman, at the low end, mid-level Brookwood, and at the top the Nomad. Here are the ten wagon choices: The Yeoman 2-door, L head 6 & V8, Yeoman 4-door, L head 6 & V8, Brookwood 4- door, 6 passenger, L head 6 & V8, & 4-door 9 passenger, L head & V8, and the Nomad - four doors only with L head 6 & V8. This year wagons had larger liftgate which were curved at the corners and hinged into the roof and raised out of the way. Also this year, a newlow slung X member frame containing an all coil suspension ridding the old rear leaf springs. The L-head 6 engine is a 235 cid with 145 hp. The V8 engines are 283 cid with a hp range from 185 - 290, and another V8 with 348 cid at 280 - 315 hp. The weight of this 4 door Nomad is 3,771 lbs., and cost $ 2,835 at the dealer. This Silver Blue beauty is another example of an excellent restoration or a splendid original survivor, I couldn't tell you. But take this all in and savor the look and feel of this great looking Nomad. Thanks very much for viewing this rare Chevy Nomad station wagon.

Here is one of my first overall build up projects, Every nut and bolt came out of this car over a 5yr period. I figured that since I was building a weird car (at that time in 1994 no one was in to station wagons except me I think) That I should have a wild and weird engine compartment, What you see is a factory Chrysler intake with a few modern tweaks and upgrades , such as billet throttle linkage, carbon fiber air cleaner tops, Indy car suspension mount for an engine torque rod. It was a great and fun car that won many awards and was featured in several national magazines, it was even on the cover of Mopar Collectors Guide! looking back now it seems funny, I sold a 1972 340 Challenger Rallye car to build the wagon , That E body is now worth a whole bunch more money than when I sold it. Even so, if I had it all to do over again I wouldn't have changed a thing, I had so much fun with the big wagon that it wouldnt have compared with just a "plain" O'l E body
