2011 Hyundai Veloster Rally Car:
With more than 17 years of racing experience, Rhys Millen has established himself as one of the premier rally/drifting drivers in North America. Born in New Zealand in 1972, Rhys is the son of famed rally and off-road racer Rod Millen. Rhys joined Rod in the U.S. as a teenager and soon afterwards established himself as a racer, by taking first place at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in the Open Division and winning Rookie of the Year. He won the Formula Drift championship in 2005 and the Red Bull Drifting World Championship in 2008.
Millen's driving credentials include movie stunts, multiple drifting championships, a Pikes Peak world record and his 2008 New Year's Eve Las Vegas truck flip. Behind Millen's success in the driver's seat is a full team of engineers and fabricators that know how to maximize the potential of a race car.
Millen has continued to make a name for himself at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb where in 2009 he won the Time Attack 2WD class in his carbon-bodied Hyundai Genesis Coupe while setting a new class record. In 2010 Millen unveiled his purpose built unlimited class Hyundai Genesis PM580 which will also be on display at the 2010 SEMA Show.
Hyundai and Rhys Millen Racing also recently announced their participation in rounds two and three of the U.S. Rallycross Championship where Millen is piloting a Hyundai Rally car specifically developed for the World Rally Championship. Specifications: HYUNDAI VELOSTER RALLY CAR

Veloster is the sixth vehicle in Hyundai's 24/7 version 2.0 product initiative (seven new models in 24 months), on the heels of the all-new Tucson, Sonata, Equus, Elantra and the soon-to-be released all-new Accent. The 2012 Veloster poses some intriguing questions:
-Why can't a sporty coupe get 40 miles per gallon?
-Why can't a car have the same connectivity as portable electronic devices?
-Why does coupe design dictate only two doors?
Why can't an affordable coupe offer premium features?
-Why can't Hyundai have two coupes -- a playful front-wheel drive model targeting the likes of Mini Cooper and Scion tC to complement the sport-focused, rear wheel drive Genesis Coupe?
Veloster's unique design takes inspiration from a high-performance sport bike. Veloster has distinctive black A-pillars that give the glass a motorcycle helmet visor appearance. In the front is an aggressive form of Hyundai's signature hexagonal front grille, hood scoop detailing, and unique Hyundai-signature LED position lights. Optional packages add a chrome grille surround, piano black highlights, fog lights, and a massive panoramic sunroof.
In profile the Veloster features "Fluidic Sculpture" character lines, muscular wheel arches, bodycolor door handles and mirrors, and wraparound headlights and taillights. Veloster comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels and offers two types of 18-inch wheels. The top-of-the-line 18-inch wheel comes with painted inserts, a segment first.
Veloster's dynamic rear design has a distinctive glass hatch, dual centered chrome Exhaust tips and black lower fascia that complements the assertive front fascia.
Inside, the center stack and controls resemble a sport bike fuel tank and incorporate an available push-button starter. The air vents are inspired by motorcycle tailpipes, while the floor console mirrors the seat of a bike. Metallic accents abound throughout the interior. Alloy pedals and a leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob are also available.
THE THIRD DOOR
Veloster combines the style of a coupe and the functionality of a hatchback, while also incorporating an additional passenger-side door. In the past, some coupes have used smaller rear-hinged access doors. These coupes have always been compromised by having to open the driver-side door before the rear door could be opened, proving to be inconvenient for both the driver and passenger, and extremely difficult to operate in tight parking lot situations. Hyundai's fresh take here implements a conventionally hinged door on the passenger side of the Veloster, providing safe and ready access to the surprisingly spacious rear seats. The passenger-side rear door handle is hidden to maintain the coupe design.

Climb - Pikes Peak Hill Climb with a Monster
Ride on the bumper of a screaming 910hp, Twin-turbo, All-wheel Drive, 150 mph Suzuki SX4 as it races up one of the world's most dangerous hills. An attempt by the "Monster" to break his own record of 10:01:41...
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (June 29, 2010) -- For the fifth consecutive time, Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima combined experience, skill and Falken Tires to claim overall victory in the 88th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Although he did not set a new Pikes Peak record, one day before his 60th birthday, Tajima continues to hold the current overall record for reaching the peak, beating hill climb veterans Paul Dallenbach and Rhys Millen in the Unlimited Class. He drove his new 910-hp Monster Sport Suzuki SX4 Hill Climb Special on Falken WildPeak A/T tires, the powerful new line of all-terrain, all-season tires Falken launched this past April.
Following Exhaustive tests in a Japanese wind tunnel facility, Monster's 2010 Pikes Peak race car underwent extensive aerodynamic changes to better adapt to the modified road surface on the race to the clouds, which assumed a smoother tarmac and less gravel than last year. Thinning air ascending the mountain robs most motors of their power by 30 or more percent, but the increase in horsepower over last year's race car helped push the driver forward.

The Hyundai Veloster is a compact three-door car first produced in 2011 by the Hyundai Motor Company, with sales beginning in South Korea in March 10, 2011 and in the United States since the fall of 2011.[not verified in body] It is the first of Hyundai's new Premium Youth Lab sub-brand, which is targeted for the young generation of drivers. It was unveiled on January 10, 2011, at the Detroit auto show, and fills the void left when Hyundai discontinued the Tiburon after the 2008 model year.
The car differs from many competitors with its asymmetrical door configuration, featuring one large door on the driver side and two on the passenger side. In the USA, the Veloster is equipped with BlueLink, a new telemetics system which will eventually be standard on all Hyundai models. The system is comparable to OnStar in GM vehicles, and provides customers with automatic crash notification, vehicle diagnostics, and remote control of vehicle features, among others.
The turbocharged model includes 1.6-liter turbocharged GDI four-cylinder engine rated for either 186 PS (137 kW; 183 hp) at 5,500 rpm or 150 kW (204 PS; 201 hp) at 6,000 rpm depending on market, and 27 kg·m (265 N·m; 195 lb·ft) at 1,750-4,500 rpm, sport-tuned engine intake and Exhaust note, sport-tuned steering, unique front fascia, foglights and ground effects, Hyundai-first Matte Gray paint, 18-inch alloy wheels with chrome inserts and Kumho Solus KH25 215/40R18 85V tires, projection headlights with unique LED headlight accents, side mirrors with turn signal indicators, LED taillights, supervision cluster, leather seating surfaces with driver's lumbar support, heated front seats, turbo exclusive Graphite Black interior with Blue accents and headliner graphics.
The Veloster turbo was unveiled at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. Shown was a concept vehicle with special graphics package featuring a gray and yellow stripe running the length of the car, yellow trim on the front spoiler, side skirts and rear fascia, as well as a checkered flag theme on the side and roof spoiler, was unveiled in 2012 Chicago Auto Show.
The US model went on sale in summer 2012 as a 2013 model year vehicle, with the choice of either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic.
It is a version of Veloster 1.6 GDi, inspired by the proverb 'A rolling stone gathers no moss'. Designed by Hyundai Design North America, it included a canvas roof that opens to the rear or windshield of the vehicle, fixed-gear bikes, a flat black spoiler, glass close out and convertible top rails, black rear reflector bezels, license plate pocket and badge; upfront flat red mirror housings, black front wheels, fog lamp bezels, front grille and badging; flat teal rear wheels, red reflectors and smoked taillights, Large free flowing circular Exhaust pipes, big, bold hexagonal front grille, sculpted side skirts, diffuser vents in the lower rear fascia, 18-inch wheels with chrome inserts, 8 individual headlight LED accents. The vehicle was unveiled in 2012 LA Auto Show.
Rhys Millen drove a version of Veloster race car with a 2-litre engine rated 500 hp with all wheel drive in the Summer X Games during 2011 US Rallycross Championship Series. The partnership between Rhys Millen Racing and Hyundai Motor America continued for 2012 Global RallyCross Championship season.
In January 2012, Turn 10 Studios announced on the official Forza Motorsport 4 website that the 2013 Hyundai Veloster turbo as well as Rhys Millen's Veloster Rally Car are available as a free downloadable content. Hyundai partnered with the Rhys Millen Red Bull Rallycross team in the 2011 U.S. Rallycross Championship. During the six planned races in 2011, the on-site activations focused on the performance tuned production vehicles, Genesis Coupe and Veloster, and local brand managers gave attendees tours of the cars and collecting attendee data via surveys on buyer interest and brand consideration. Large flat screens played race footage and rallycross highlights.
A TV commercial titled 'Cheetah', featuring a caged cheetah set to race a new 201 horsepower Veloster turbo on a long stretch of open road, was premiered during the first quarter of 2012 Super Bowl. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Veloster
