2011 Pontiac Trans Am Concept by Kevin Morgan
When news of the Camaro's rebirth got teeth back
in 2006, the HOT ROD staff was frothing at the mouth, and it wasn't long
before one of us asked the question, "I wonder if they'll do a Firebird
version of it?" Of course, Pontiac still existed at the time, so it seemed
logical. We then saw designer Kevin Morgan's concept drawing of a new Trans
Am, using the Camaro as
the base. He hit it out of the park with the rendering, which appeared in
the May '07 issue, and we're not the only ones to think so.
Tod Warmack at Trans Am Depot in Tallahassee, Florida
(www.transamdepot.com), thought the same thing and told his brother and
business partner, Scott, "If Pontiac doesn't build a Trans Am, we can do it
based on Kevin's design."
The tail still has the convex shape of the Camaro, but it's currently being
refined to square it off more true to the '77 to '78 Firebird. They wanted
to do that originally but didn't have time to research new taillights and
still make the SEMA deadline. The 1-inch-lowered stance comes from Eibach
Springs. Note the '77-era TA quad Exhaust tips. Future examples will likely have
quarter louvers removed.Of course, there weren't any cars available at the
time, but thanks to his SEMA membership, Tod had access to the cad-cam data
on the new Camaro and
gathered the information needed to make the tooling to turn the Chevy into
a Trans Am. About a year later, Todd Otto at Otto Body in Lincoln, Nebraska
(www.ottobody.com), was thinking the same thing and called Kevin with the
offer to build a one-off TA, just because he wanted to do it. Kevin
contacted Tod (Warmack) and told him of the plan, and the three of them
hashed out the details. Trans Am Depot bought a new Camaro and delivered it to Otto
Body, which built the car in a relative hurry to hit the deadline of making
it to the Trans Am Nationals in Dayton, Ohio, in August 2009 for its debut.
Trans Am reincarnated - The Lingenfelter TA
The Lingenfelter TA concept car was built from a 2010 Camaro SS and is powered by a LS
based 455 CID engine that produces 655 horsepower & 610 lbs ft of
Lingenfelter's custom TA was built around the classic 71 Trans Am interior
& exterior theme. The TA features a classic shaker hood, new front fascia,
revised front and rear quarter panels, functional front fender vents and
rear spoiler. To finish off the exterior the LTA has new lighting front and
rear, blue stripping, badging, custom honeycomb 20" wheels, Nitto tires &
The interior enhancements include custom seats, console, door panels,
carpets and a 70's style metal-turned instrument panel.

Burt Reynolds Edition Trans Am BAN3 at the DYNO
We did a complete tune on (Signed by Burt - Car #9) this BRE Trans Am. The
performed by Chad & Pat @ THE SHOP, in Lincoln, NE on a MustangDyno). This car has an LS7
engine, with upgraded cam, lifters, springs and rods, to get it to 625hp at
the crank, with similar torque. Unbelievable car to drive and feel the
power that it has. If you ever get a chance to go for a ride in one of
these cars or to purchase one, they are well worth the money and
investment. Keep i mind this is a one of a kind signed car designed by
Year One and Burt himself, and there will be only a limited production!

Just some quick pulls in my 1998 Pontiac Trans Am with a buddy in his 2010
Camaro SS on 100 shot
of NOS and a random Mustang
GT single turbo on low Boost.
The passenger side T-top flies off while I'm setting up on the run with the
Camaro SS. The
mechanics installing the A/C compressor earlier that day forgot to latch
the tops back when they finished with the car.

Sneak peak at a one off custom Trans-Am and GTO Concept /Camaro Morph
These are the new 2010/11 Camaro's that have been
completely customized by the tallented gentlemen at OTTO body shop in
Nebraska. Great guys and maybe an even greater pair of cars that bring out
the boy in any real american car lover. Hats off to these guys and there
vision. Ps In the video I guessed and said they base car was a 2008 or 9
Camaro. Its a 2011 come
