1986 Chevrolet C30 dually 6.2 detroit diesel cold start and hitting the streets
Well, she drives TOO. An exciting time for me having this beaut back on
the road. She runs and drives good. A few little things to take care of
before its 100 percent but def. useable as is. May be taking it up to Tom
Martyns this weekend, we will see how that goes. Just some street action,
nothing major. Can sort of hear how the stacks sound, I think the go pro
was a little too close possibly.
The Detroit Diesel in the 1986 Chevrolet C30 dually flat bed LIVES AGAIN and no knock cold start 6.2
Well, I can't express how excited I am. She lives again. I idled it for
about a half an hour in the driveway to burp all of the air out of the
cooling system and just to let it warm up. Obviously it runs very well.
It probably would have started sooner if I had pulled the manual high idle
a little more, plus the four injectors on the left side needed to pump back
up because that is the head I had off. Now to address the brake fluid leak
at the rear axle.
List of parts replaced:
Cylinder #5 - Piston, rings, connecting rod, connecting rod bearing, wrist
pin and circlips
All related gaskets to put the oil pan/head/Exhaust/intake/water transfer pipe back on.
1986 Chevrolet C30 6.2 detroit diesel dually cold start and knock issue
Well, it was about 40 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Doing a cold startup and
trying to figure out where my knocking noise is coming from. I don't know
where exactly the knock is coming from. I don't know if faulty injectors
will cause this type of steady rhythmic knock/tap. If you look at my other
videos, you can hear the same noise since I got the truck back in August.
I don't want to do any damage from running it this way. Any insight would
be greatly appreciated.
