Removed the 2 speed power glide automatic and put in a Borg Warner T-50 5-speed from a '77 Chevy Monza.
Car is a stock '73 Vega GT with a 2.3L, 140 cubic inch 4-cylinder with a 2-barrel carb. The muffler is an old rusty glass pack.
5 Speeds are much better than 2......
1976 Chevy Vega Kammback
Here's a rare treat! The 1975 Chevrolet Vega Kammback! Only 53,012 miles on
this thing! It boasts a 70hp 2.3L in-line 4 cylinder and a 3 speed
automatic transmission. It's a rear wheel drive car that is perfect for a
V8 swap! It also has disc brakes, bucket seats, fold down rear seats, a
roof rack, and a forward tilting hood. The car is very straight, starts
and drives good, and gets great gas mileage!
1971 Chevy Vega Commercial - Worst Car Ever Made in the USA in Modern Times
The Chevy Vega was built to compete with the likes of VW, Toyota and Datsun
in the USA. It was Chevy's first Sub Compact Car. Although there is
always some debate. This car is considered by many as being one of or
actually, the Worst Car Ever Made. It's very subjective. It was heavily
recalled by GM for prolbems, the alluminium engines warped, the front cowl
sections rusted thru in a short period of time. The overall build quality
was very suspect. The Ford Pinto had some Safety issues or at least a bad
reputation earned rightly or wrongly with the placement of the Gas Tank
and the AMC Gremlin had detractors to it's styling but was reliable car,
but the Vega was real junk.

Chevy Vega engine Turbocharged
This is a schnieder cammed, ported Vega engine on 12 PSI Boost. It uses a Corvair Corsa turbo in a "draw through" design.
The rubber hose you see expanding and contracting is just a radiator hose
we used to fire it up. That is being replaced with hard tubing.
The nasty idle is the cam..I am going to have to run it at about 1000 rmp
Boost comes on at 1200rpm. Any
questions,just email me.
I have been keeping Vega engines in vegas for years.
