The Ultimate Turbo Anti-lag System
A close up encounter with a new turbocharger anti-lag system that will soon change
the face of turbo drag racing forever.
A 224cid Buick V6 spooling a monster Borg Warner Airwerks S510/91mm turbo.
These tests were performed with the afterburner set at a low initial
setting. The full potential and limits of the afterburner feature are yet
to be explored.
This system is very capable of pushing the 3200 rpm stall speed (no Nitrous, zero Boost) of this torque converter to over 6200
rpm stall speed in 2 seconds, and in the same time generating over 220 kPa
manifold pressure. Impressive only if you fully understand the demanding
spooling requirements of the Airwerks S510 turbocharger.
Pro light launch tests with the newly enhanced Nitrous/Methanol ALS coming up next.
Update: Latest performance of the car, 2/12/11, 5.57 @ 126 mph in the 1/8
mile. 1.27 60'. The ALS activated for only 1.7 seconds, and shut down
before launching the car from the starting line.
In the comments section I have made entries that give detailed descriptions
of how this system works and basics on how to set it up.
This system is far from optimized. Hopefully others will play with this
system and make further impressive advances with it.

Update: There was a substantial leak discovered in a tee fitting in a MAP
signal line that, at the time of this video, fed both the fuel pressure
regulator and the Boost gauge.
Trying to judge the Boost level with
the fuel pressure and Boost gauges
in this video would be inaccurate. The Boost level that was recorded by the ECM
during these tests was in the range of 14 psi. The Boost gauge in this video (upper left gauge)
is showing only 6 or 7 psi Boost due
to the signal line leak.

With an unbroken string of podium finishes, Subaru Rally Team USA has lead
the Rally America championship for the majority of the season. However,
with the competition stepping up their game and only two events remaining,
the points gap has tightened. Hanging dust, power steering failure, and
injuries to David Higgins at the penultimate event have put the Subaru team
into damage control. Their ability to finish the event is now in question,
but with bandages and ice David Higgins refuses to give up valuable
championship points and finishes the Ojibwe Rally. The final rally will be
a winner-take-all battle royale.
Houghton, Michigan. Home of the Lake Superior Performance Rally - the final
and deciding round of the twenty-thirteen Rally-America Championship. This
is the closest championship race in years, and both sides have claimed
their intention to win.
The air of calm confidence and smiles is just a mask hiding the intense
emotion and pressure these teams are facing. Ken Block and Ford must win to
take the championship. Higgins and Subaru need to get in their way.
As the cars arrive at the start of the first stage, the usual friendly
banter and socializing is gone. The teams stick to themselves and focus on
the task at hand.
The speed is immense and the two teams trade seconds back and forth all
weekend. Higgins and Drew in the Subaru dominate on the night stages to
take an overnight lead, putting the pressure on Block to chase on Day 2.
One team will end up finishing the rally, the other does not.
It's a fight to the final hours of the 2013 championship season. Will
Subaru Rally Team USA receive a trophy or a handshake?
This is everything it takes to win. This is everything that gets in the way
of victory. This is launch control.

I had my car tuned by the infamous Jason Carberry utilizing his Speed
Density ROM, the CarberryROM. The car is running a couple aftermarket
goodies, but engine is totally stock at this point, just bolt-ons.
