39th Annual "Duel at De Anza" (5/18/2008)
Car: 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata Tires: Bridgestone RE01R (205/45/16) Class: SM2 (finished 4th of 9) Split Time: 26.255s Time: 52.222s Venue: De Anza College (Cupertino, CA) I missed a 3rd place in-class finish by about 0.6 seconds and 2nd by only 0.8 seconds, either of which would have given me a trophy... Oh well, at least the only consolation is that I didn't do too badly for this competition considering I was not running on R-compound tires. :) I love the way this event was run, using the old-school auto-x format (1st lap is practice and the last two are timed). Also, the course was nice and tight, so it was challenging. I'm surprised that as wild as I was on course, I didn't hit anything.





LIVING THE PORSCHE
Living The Porsche - is a Film by Sydney based company, SoDUS Films. The guys from SoDUS followed Grant and the team at AutoHaus for more than 8 months to capture stories here at the workshop, away at the track and from some of our clients. The film was premiered in Sydney, we were there along with 250 of our good friends. The night was a huge success but obviously not everyone could get there to see the work. Here is the full-length version of Living The Porsche and we are proud to share it with you. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder First Test: Fastest 0-60 Time Ever? Plus Porsche 959! - Ignition Ep. 109
On this week's Ignition, Carlos Lago has a second go at Porsche's 918 hypercar. The goal: to run the 918 through the full gauntlet of MT's instrumented testing, including 0-60, quarter mile, braking, figure 8, and a blistering real-time hot lap around Big Willow race track with pro driver Randy Pobst. Carlos also gets a rare chance to experience the 918's ancestor, the Porsche 959. The 959 was a remarkable piece of automobile history that was decades ahead of its time with much of it's technology only appearing in common vehicles within the last ten years or so. The 918 attempts something very similar, featuring very advanced technology, including a naturally aspirated V8 that works with a seamlessly integrated electric motor to provide extra Boost. Can Porsche's new hypercar achieve the same effect that its predecessor did? Only time will tell, but stay tuned for the record-breaking review.
