2002 Silverado Fuel Pump R&R (Remove/Re-Install Tank Method)
This is the complete removal and re installation procedure to change the
fuel pump on a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 LS.
The engine is a 5.3 Liter (V8) Vortec with 2WD Automatic. This procedure
should be very similar for a wide variety of trucks of the Silverado or
Sierra series. The fuel pump I ordered (the AC/Delco MU1613) will fit a
lot of different models.
I began with a truck that wouldn't run due to about 10 PSI of fuel pressure
and ended up with a perfect running truck.
I removed and re-installed the fuel tank in this video. The other method
involves raising the bed of the pickup.
It took me 6 hours working pretty much all by myself to complete the
procedure. About 1 hour of that was a lunch break and another 40 or so
minutes were little else besides talking to the video camera to explain
what I was doing.
I had never done this particular procedure before. If I had the job would
have gone much more quickly I'm sure.

How To Tell If Your Fuel Pump Is Bad
Scotty Kilmer, mechanic for the last 46 years, shows how to find out if
your car's fuel pump has gone bad. Some simple tests are all that's needed,
and you don't want to guess with a new pump without testing, as some can
cost over a thousand dollars to replace. And, If you like my car help, be

GMC and CHEVY truck easy fuel pump fix - make a hatch
I was on my way to the dump one day and my fuel pump went out.
Frustrating... This is my aircraft mechanic way of fixing my fuel pump.
Airplanes have lots of hatches. You don't have to take the wings off an
airplane to get to the fuel pump.
Some people don't like the idea of cutting a small square in their bed and
that's ok. But I see people modifying their trucks all the time for purely
cosmetic reasons and some of those mods actually make their trucks less
useful so I don't think a purely practical modification is out of line.
On these GM trucks you can scoot the bed back or drop the tank to get to
the fuel pump. Or just make a hatch. Rivet on some tabs and put the piece
you sawed out back on with some sealant. If you have a bed liner nobody
will know but you. Shoot, chrome the hatch and be proud of it.
Now if your $60 ebay fuel pump goes out again it's a 15 minute fix instead
of a 4 hour dirty tank drop. And no need for the $400 OEM pump because
you're scared to go through the hassle of dropping the tank again.
When I took the pump out it was actually just the flex hose that takes the
fuel from the pump to the top of the tank that had cracked. But that OEM
pump was always very noisy so I chucked it and went with the cheapest pump
on ebay which is still going strong after a couple years and is completely

Fuel Pump Replacement Chevy Pickup 95-2001
This video was created to show my sons how to change a fuel pump in my 97
chevy pickup. I have become ill and may not be able to show them again or
be here to answer questions about common projects that I rely on my father
for even still today. I plan on making several of these to give a permanent
record of things they may need to know that under better circumstances I
would be here to help them through. While I am able I will make as many of
these in what I feel are important subjects. This is my way of extending my
life and being there for my sons long after I am gone. We decided to share
these videos with everyone. My youngest son who just turned 13 will be the
cameraman. My 19 and 17 year old sons will take part whenever possible. I
am very proud of my three boys and hope this endeavor will give them
lasting support while doing projects throughout their lives. Thank you for
watching I hope the information is helpful to you as well.
How To Diagnose A Fuel Pump Failure - EricTheCarGuy
I had the privilege of visiting Airtex, and while I was there I spoke with
Shane Neuman about diagnosing a faulty fuel pump. In this video we go over
the basic steps of diagnosing a faulty fuel pump. So if your vehicle isn't
starting and you suspect a fuel pump problem, here are some steps to follow
to confirm your suspicions. Another 'quick' test is to bang on the fuel
tank and then try and start the engine. Sometimes this works, just don't
bang too hard, you could damage something.
