James Reeve Returns 2011 Road Atlanta
The return to racing of Yenko Stinger racing legend James J. Reeve Jr.
Back in the mid 70's James was a thorn in the side of the British and
Datsun factory teams. James in his 1966 Yenko Stinger Corvair running as a
privateer was able to beat the likes Group 44, Huffaker and Datsun factory
backed teams in SCCA D-Production road racing at the national championship
level. I offered my Yenko Stinger Corvair for James to drive in the 2011
Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) annual Mitty race at Road Atlanta the
weekend of April 29-May 1. James certainly didn't disappoint us Corvair
types this weekend. We were only beaten by a very well driven, and fast,
Lotus Super 7 driven by Bill Bartlett also from Atlanta. Thanks again
My last race with Tom Thrash. Hallett Raceway April 2009. I got the win
but he got the lap record. RIP Tom.
CORVAIR: UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED?
A couple of interviews with Corvair owners at the South 71 Cruiser's Cruise
Night event this month. Lots of other cars there, but the Corvairs seemed
like an interesting topic to record.

Corvair Monza SR
This 2011 prototype is a design projection of how Chevrolet's original 1963
Monza SS concept might have turned out, had it gone into actual production.
It's a tribute to Larry Shinoda, who designed it and some of America's best
known automobiles, the C2 Corvettes and later Boss Mustangs. It's also a tribute to Bill
Mitchell, who had the design foresight to dream of this being a
lower-priced brother to the Corvette. This version is 6% larger than the
original, and has more modern lighting, so that it can better blend with
today's denser, SUV -laden traffic.
We are using the model designation Monza SR, in deference to the original
Monza SS concept and GM's recent decision renew trademark on the SS model
name. As 2012 progresses, we are working toward making this car available
as a limited-production kit that uses the future owner's existing Corvair
powertrain in our own serial-numbered, tube-frame, rolling chassis/body
combination. Check out our Flickr site:
