GOLF GTI (Modified) vs Audi S3/RS3 Race/Drift

Modified MK6 GTI and my custom S3/RS3 8P having a bit of race around a very wet race track. Track conditions were very cold and wet. All ESP, ASC, TCS and all other electronic aids were turned off in my car to make it more interesting. Me running around on soft compound semi slicks! No heat in the tyres or brakes. A real challenge to keep the car on track!!!

The day that we had the chance to drive the Audi RS6 Sedan, we were offered another car. At first I wasn't really excited about hearing we could drive an S3 as well. But that thought crushed at the moment my dad floored the throttle! What an amazing sound does this car produces! You can hear the amazing DSG-gearbox system working with quick gear changes, and then the turbo kicks in....What a machine! I recon this COULD be more fun than the Audi RS6..But that's my opnion! VW GTI with 800hp mid-engine V6 turbo
Featured in the December 2010 issue of eurotuner magazine, check out this incredible Golf GTI from 034Motorsport in Fremont, CA. It features a mid-mounted single-turbo Audi S4 2.7T V6 with custom chargecooler and subframe plus Porsche rear end, Porsche suspension and brakes all round. It also has a custom widebody for the Porsche wheels. Dyno runs have seen power in excess of 800hp. Golf R32 vs Audi S3
So which car is faster and better overall? What better way to test it then flog both cars round a race track and see?? This is an over lay video of me driving both my MKV R32 and my S3, lapping the same race track (Wakefield Park) in similar track conditions. Both car videos have been edited to have the same "starting" point at the start of the armco barrier. (Note the white painted barrier on the left) Driver: Me Condition: Fine, Sunny approximately 23 degrees celcius VW R32: Semi Slicks, ECU Tune, H&R Race Springs, Adjustable Shocks, Front and Rear Sway Bars, Cold Air Intake, 2 Piece Slotted Brake Rotors, Pagid Race Brake Pads, Braided Steel Lines, Audi S3: Completely Stock standard. The R32 should be quicker right due to the modifications and semi slicks right?? Wrong. The S3 is actually faster around a race track and significantly easier to drive. It doesn't suffer under steer issues to the extent that the R32 suffers, it feels significantly lighter and much more nimbler and agile. While the modifications to the R32 made a significant difference to help manage the under steer and handling ... it doesnt over come the weighty V6 at the front of the car and top end of the V6 which could be a lot better! My Stock S3 is 1.5 seconds per lap faster than my Modified R32. My car versus an Audi R8 on a race track, Surprisingly my car was able to keep up with the R8. Apologies for the lousy Video footage guys. I didnt take my normal camera gear with me as I wasnt planning on taking video footage. But I just had to film a rumble with the R8 so I used my Iphone 4 to record the footage.
