Fifth Gear's Jason Plato services Volkswizard's VW Corrado VR6 to see if can produce more power
In March 2013 we supplied Fifth Gear with a Corrado VR6 to see if following
a full service and some injector cleaner, whether it would produce more
power. The car was rolling road tested at our premises to get a base
reading after which some Redex injector cleaner was added to a full tank of
fuel. After this tank was used, the car was taken to Millbrook Proving
Ground where it was rolling road tested again and after each service item
was changed. Eventually the car nearly produced the full 190 bhp - what
the footage didn't state was that the car was run on 95 RON unleaded rather
than Super Unleaded which the car requires to produce full power - this was
done to avoid clouding the effectiveness of the Redex injector treatment as
Super Unleaded fuel contains similar cleaning properties.

project. These are the last memories of my 95' VW GTI MK3 VR6. I sold it
and bought an 03' Jetta GLI 2.9L VR6 Big turbo. This was my first car and spent my whole
high school year working on it with my father. I was planning to put a
Kinetic Stage 2 turbo Kit in but I
didn't have the money at the time. This car was my daily and I built it the

Engine: 2.8L 6-cylinder 12V, custom cold air intake, custom 2.25" Exhaust sytem with test pipe to 12" glasspack
resonator to single dual exit Sebring muffler with polished dual tips,
custom polished/painted intake manifold, NGK spark plugs, Taylor spark plug
wires, G12 coolant conversion, windshield wiper reservoir delete
Drivetrain: stock five-speed manual transmission, shortened shifter
Brakes: Upgraded cross drilled & slotted rotors, red painted calipers
Suspension: FK Sport Edition Plus Coilovers, Neuspeed front upper strut
tie-bar, Neuspeed 25mm front swaybar, Neuspeed 28mm rear sway bar
Wheels & Tires: 16x9" all around et15 3.0" lip ESM wheels, 205/45/16
Hancook Ventus V2 Concept tires
Exterior: Dubtechnik R32 front bumper, Dubtechnik RS rear bumper, custom
Platinum Grey paint job, rear wiper delete, 6000k HID kit, MK4 Hella E-Code
Interior: Autopower Street Sport 4-point roll bar with removable harness
bar, Corbeau A4 style racing seats, Sparco 4-Point harness, NRG flat bottom
black leather steering wheel, Momo hub, Original Wink Rally 5 panel mirror,
LED's light conversion
Replaced with new: Radiator, thermostat, thermostat housing, radiator
hoses, slave cylinder, master cylinder, serpentine belt, water pump,
starter and battery.
