Tank Smashes Prius! Toyota Prius Battles AMC Gremlin & Suffers Crushing Defeat - Roadkill Ep. 17
On this episode of Roadkill, a tank squashes a Prius to smithereens! It runs over that junk without even noticing. That's all you really need to know about this episode of Roadkill, but if you jump straight to the tank carnage you'll miss a bunch of cool stuff. Like when Freiburger and Finnegan attempt a shootout between a Toyota Prius hybrid and a '75 AMC Gremlin, trying to prove that the Gremmie is more of a greenie. It was all fun and games until the Prius engine let go on the race track in a ball of flame. Because Roadkill. After that, you've gotta see the guys once again embrace their own Kryptonite: flat-towing. Yup, as it turns out, dragging a dead Prius with a lighter, smaller Gremlin ends real badly. But in the end, the Prius is wafer thin and the Gremlin's still on the road. Still want to jump right to the tank smash? Don't be that guy. Roadkill appears every fourth Friday on the Motor Trend channel. http://www.youtube.com/motortrend Subscribe now to make sure you're in on all the action! http://www.youtube.com/subscription_c... Cheapest Hybrid on the Market - 2013 Honda Insight EX Test Drive & Hybrid Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/honda/insight/2013/?id=32972 When most people say Hybrid Car the Toyota Prius comes to mind. But it was actually the Honda Insight that was the first hybrid to go on sale here in the U.S. Back in 2000, the Honda Insight was a 2-seater that averaged more than 60 MPG on the highway. Today's Insight as you can see is a bit larger and can accommodate 4 passengers. The 2013 Honda Insight comes in 3 different trims: base, LX, and EX with prices ranging from $18,600 - $23,790. When you look at the 2013 Honda Insight with its rakish roofline and two-piece glass hatch, you might think Honda has copied the wedge design seen in the Toyota Prius. Well Honda was actually first to use this design with the first generation Insight. This EX test car comes equipped with 15-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in low rolling resistance tires. All Insight's come with blue tinted LED tail lights and the same tint on the front headlamps. The 2013 Honda Insight is a gas-electric hybrid which means it has a regular gas powered 4-cylinder engine, and electric assist motor, and a nickel-metal hydride battery pack that gets recharged via the regenerative braking system. What is a bit different about the Insight is that it is considered a mild-hybrid meaning the electric motor only assists the gasoline engine. The car does not have the ability to run on electricity alone which the Prius can do up to a certain point. The power output of the gas engine and electric motor combined is 98 horsepower and 123 ft-lb of torque. The Insight Hybrid is rated at 41 MPG in the city and 44 MPG on the highway. The hatchback design allows for a lot of storage and cargo space at 15.9 cubic feet with the rear seat up and 31.5 cubic feet with the seats folded down. The seats are comfortable as they sit tall and are firm. The gauge layout on the Insight is unique with the speedo integrated in a separate area above the tach. So who would be a good candidate to purchase an Insight hybrid? Well if you are willing to give up some ride comfort and power in exchange for fuel efficiency at a low price then the 2013 Honda Insight may be the hybrid for you. Ultimate Hybrid Duel: New Prius vs. Honda Insight
FULL TOYOTA PRIUS VS. HONDA INSIGHT @ INSIDELINE.COM: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Comparos/articleId=144926 At the launch of the 2010 Toyota Prius, Bob Carter, group vice president and general manager for Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., tells us, "We'll face two challenges when the Prius goes on sale: the economy and the 2010 Honda Insight. "The good news for consumers is that the market has plenty of room for both the Prius and Insight in their respective segments," Carter adds. "Based on our 2010 projections, the Prius can achieve a theoretical 7 percent share of the industry's largest segment — midsize sedans. In the second-ranked compact class, the Insight could achieve a 5 percent market share." So it'll be a nice, peaceful coexistence for these two hybrid cars that just happen to look almost exactly like each other. Don't believe that? Neither do we. As the U.S. economy continues its topsy-turvy performance, nobody's market share is safe. So it actually matters which hybrid car is better — the 2010 Honda Insight, which went on sale March 24, or the 2010 Toyota Prius, which hits dealers in late May. The Insight has already proven itself against the 2009 Prius. But now that the 2010 Toyota Prius has appeared with its bigger engine, all-new chassis and 50-mpg EPA-combined fuel economy rating, it is a much tougher hybrid cookie (bursting with high-fiber organic oats and fair-trade chocolate chips!).
