2014 / 2015 Scion FR-S (AKA Subaru BRZ & Toyota 86) Review and Road Test - DETAILED
Check out more videos: http://vid.io/xqoB Upcoming reviews: http://vid.io/xqxl Best cars in 2014: http://vid.io/xqxe The Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 are all essentially the same car and together they are probably one of the most misunderstood sports cars sold in America. Misunderstood you ask? Why yes. Many assume that the sexy coupé is rocket ship fast. It's not. Many assume the svelte 2-door grips the road like it has claws. It doesn't. Many have heard rumours that it wears Toyota Prius tires. It kinda-sorta does. What most people don't know however is that these traits combine to create one of the purest, most enjoyable and certainly most affordable rear wheel drive sports cars in America. In the same tradition as a classic lightweight English sports car, the 2+2 Scion FR-S' raison d'être isn't to eat Ford Mustangs for breakfast, it's mission is to be the best balanced track car. And it succeeds. The 200HP and 151 lb-ft of torque are unquestionably low for our modern era where even a Camry cranks out more power, but the power is perfectly balanced to the car's weight AND grip. The low-rolling resistance tires allow the FR-S to get just the right amount of tail-happy on a small track and the manual transmission is perfectly suited to an autocross style event. Sure, putting the FR-S on a larger track like Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca reveals the FR-S is out-gunned by plenty of rivals, but doing so also misses the point. I like to think of the Scion/Toyota/Subaru as baby's first track car, the kind of car you can use to hone your driving skills before moving up to a more-powerful, faster and deadlier vehicle. The key to loving this low-slung 2+2 is to understand what it is, and most importantly: what it isn't.

2013 Scion FR-S New Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/scion/fr-s/2013/?id=32972 The FR-S in the 2013 Scion FR-S stands for front engine, rear wheel drive sports car. This 2-door coupe is a very fun car to drive and is a joint venture between Toyota and Subaru. Back in 2007 the 2 manufacturers decided to build this car together so much of the engine technology, parts, and even the chassis is shared. Base price on the 2013 Scion FR-S is $24,200. The 2013 Scion FR-S is powered by a 2.0 liter boxer engine which is a essentially a flat-4 cylinder motor developed by Subaru. Power is pretty good for a naturally aspirated 2.0 liter engine at 200 horsepower and 151 lb-ft. of torque. There are 2 different transmission choices: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The automatic transmission is much more fuel efficient at 25 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway. The Scion FR-S was designed to be a great handling everyday affordable sports car and while this vehicle does not have a ton of power, it does have a great center of gravity and almost perfect weight distribution (for a front engine car) at 55% front and 45% rear. To illustrate just how serious the engineers are about the handling capabilities of the 2013 Scion FR-S, the car has a lower center of gravity than both a Nissan GTR and Porsche Boxster which are considered some of the best handling cars in the world. The exterior of the Scion FR-S conveys a ton of fun. Scion calls this styling Neo-Functional Design and the car is all about being low, light, and beautiful. It is all about power-to-weight ratio in this car and features like an aluminum hood help keep the curb weight down to 2750 lbs. The 17-inch alloy wheels are not only very stong and lightweight but they also look good! The dual Exhaust system and rear diffuser really tie the whole look of the rear end together. With the 2013 Scion FR-S you will be able to accessorize and customize this car in a number of different ways by choosing the paint color, adding optional wheels and a body kit, or upgrading the stereo. The Scion FR-S was designed from the ground up to be an affordable car that you could drive on the streets then take out on the track for a little fun. 2013 Scion FR-S 0-60 MPH
http://MPGomatic.com drops the hammer on a 2013 Scion FR-S (automatic transmission) for a 0-60 MPH acceleration test. The FR-S is equipped with a flat four-cylinder (Boxer) engine that produces 200 horsepower (HP) . Test performed in VSC Sport Mode with Traction Control OFF. Two runs were taken. So yeah, these runs look slow. Edmunds hit it in 6.6 seconds from a dead stop and "6.3 seconds with one foot of rollout like on a drag strip," as they like to say. Stick around for the preview of "Formula Drift : Rise of the V8," in an excerpt that includes Scion/Greddy driver Ken Gushi. 2013 Subaru BRZ vs Scion FR-S 0-60 MPH Mile High Mashup Review
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The almost identical 2013 Subaru BRZ and the 2013 Scion FR-S herald the return of the light and affordable rear-wheel drive sports car. Jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru there's very little that separates the two twins except for minor suspension differences. But since both cars can be purchased as with either an automatic transmission or a manual one we of course want to know which one is faster to 60 @1 mile above sea level...the automatic Subaru BRZ or the 6-speed manual Scion FR-S? Check out this fun TFLcar Mashup Review to find out.
