Karmann Ghia - Convertible Top Installation - Part 3 - Padding Kit
Installing the padding kit for the VW Karmann Ghia Convertible. This involves a lot of detail work to get all the pieces to fit into place and make a smooth surface for the outer shell to stretch over.
Karmann Ghia - Convertible Top Installation - Part 4 - Outer Canvas
It been a long time since the last video on the install (September 2012 to
be exact). The top arrived from TMI by way of HOG and this video shows the
installation of the canvas top onto the headlined and padded frame. I will
have one more video in this series showing the finishing touches and adding
all the necessary seals around the windows.

A step by step of how I installed the custom tweed headliner from Mike at
House of Ghia (made by TMI) in my 1974 VW Karmann Ghia. Thanks to Vince
(Ghiaaddict) on thesamba for his step by step tutorial. I would not have
even attempted this without his help and guidance.

A true classic - Karmann Ghia | Drive it!
Wulf Henrichs is a passionate collector of classic cars. He decided to take
a risky venture and bought an old classic over the internet for 17,000
euros without even taking a look at it. It's a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia and
spent most of its life in the United States.

Virtual Car Tuning: How to make a convertible
I know the result is not that good. It is for a tutorial. And therefore I
did everything a little faster, so
the result would be better if there is more time spend.
That counts for everything: More time, better result.
This is one of the ways to make a convertible. You can also take the frame
of the donor car. But I prefer this way so you have to do less warp. Which
is better for the result :D
You have to make sure that you use a donor car at roughly the same angle.
P.S. I know the rear is different when you look through the window. Not the

this great barn find - a 1971 VW Karmann Ghia Convertible sold by Sunset
This cute little Ghia has lived in a barn for the past 24 years! It is
happy to be in my garage with other good VW company, but I already have a
yellow Ghia Convertible so this one is up for sale. The long-time owner
said he took the car out every year to keep things fresh. When I looked at
the car he admitted it had been 3 years since it had been driven. The barn
was on a dirt road way out in the Minnesota prairie. It was a fun find.
Convertible Karmann Ghias are definitely one of my favorite barn finds for
a classic car.

Join us on a test drive to the Valley of the Moon Winery in this cool
classic 1969 Karmann Ghia convertible. Stored inside family warehouse since
1987. Prior to entering it's 26 year rest it had been repainted and a new
top was installed. I believe that the 93k miles showing are likely correct
yet cannot be sure. All mechanical systems recently gone through to make
the car a reliable, long-distance or daily driver. New tires also
installed. Strong compression, excellent shifting and acceleration; brakes,
steering all in full working order. Original equipment in correct working
order including the clock. Original Sapphire X radio does not turn on but
we will see if this can be remedied prior to sale. Original white interior
was discolored after 45 years so we replaced the front and rear seat covers
and door panels. Carpet is original. This is a good driver-quality, mostly
original California car with plenty of appeal and room to improve if
someone so desires. Or just enjoy exactly as-is.

Join us for a little test drive in this super solid, clean vintage Karmann
Ghia in excellent shape. Body looks great and the new paint has a nice,
deep shine. Excellent trim and chrome with lots of new rubber, crisp, clear
windshield, excellent tires and brakes. Engine in excellent condition,
rebuilt less than 10k miles ago with dual carburetors and runs like a
champ. Shifting is tight and smooth as well. The interior still has some
original patina'd areas like the original square weave rugs, giving it a
nice vintage feel. Otherwise the front seats and panels have been replaced
along with the headliner and newer cloth top and boot cover. The floors and
rockers are super solid. Everything is in great working order. We are
currently replacing the fuel sender so that will be completed at time of
shipping. Important to note that 1967 is a low production year making it
pretty rare since only 4,100 were built.

1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Engine Start
First time starting up the 2333 cc engine (91x84mm) that I installed in my
wife's freshly restored 1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible. Yes, I
know my coil is installed upside-down. The after-market wire harness was
installed with too little slack to reach a downward-pointing coil. This is

The Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is a sports car marketed in both 2+2 coupe
(1955--1974) and convertible (1957--1974) body styles by Volkswagen. The
Karmann Ghia combined the chassis and mechanicals of the Type 1 (Beetle)
with styling by Luigi Segre of the Italian carrozzeria Ghia and hand-built
bodywork by the German coach-builder Karmann.
The Karmann Ghia was internally designated the Type 14. Volkswagen later
introduced a variant in 1961, the Type 34, featuring angular bodywork and
based on the newly introduced Type 3 platform.
Production doubled soon after its introduction, becoming the car most
imported into the U.S. American industrial designer Walter Dorwin Teague
included the Type 14 in his list of the world's most beautifully designed
More than 445,000 Karmann Ghias were produced in Germany over the car's
production life -- not including the Type 34 variant. Karmann Brazil
produced 41,600 cars locally for South America between 1962 and 1975.
