Top Fuel Honda S2000 No.1 World Time Attack
Hirano who runs the Top Fuel Honda Tuning Workshop in Japan tells how his shop was focused on drag racing and switched to circuit racing. He sticks with Honda engines and does not do tube frame chassis because he wants to demonstrate what can be done to tune his customer cars. He thinks his rebuilt S2000 with 0.7 HP per kilo can win the ADVAN Pro Class at Yokohama World Time Attack 2012. It's shaping up to be a big showdown.

With just a few hours rest the UK Time Attack Championship is back at Anglesey for Round 5 -- same venue, same competitors and everything still to play for. Saturday took everyone by surprise with scorching sunshine for the first time this year, but it's a very different outlook for Sunday morning. There's no rain (touch wood) but the track's been left slightly damp and greasy, not to mention a much cooler temperature making it that bit more difficult to get the tyres switched on.
Although the same venue, Round 5 has switched to the Anglesey 'Coastal' track, a shorter 1.5-mile layout which is even faster than the 'International' setup yesterday. In 2011 Paul Doyle set the fastest time overall with a 1:14.873 on Pirelli P-Zero road tyres; we're expecting that record to be broken thanks to the new tyre rules, but just by how much is anyone's guess.

Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08, the dual duty street and track tyre is now available in Australia.
The ADVAN Neova AD08 bridges the gap between street tyres and race tyres. Street tyres work well when cold. Conventional rubber compounds reach their limit during high speed driving as heat softening quickly saps the tyres ability to grip the road. Using street tyres on the track can lead to slower lap times and rapid tread wear. Race tyres work well when hot. R-spec race tyres and slicks, on the other hand, generate heat which helps them grip the race track. They work best above 60 degrees Celsius. Race tyres work best in the first heat cycles, then performance begins to drop off. Using race tyres on the street is uneconomical as it can waste heat cycles and reduce tyre performance.
