1964 Cobra Racing at Laguna Seca
Jim Bouzaglou tackles the field at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the 2011
Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion. An incident with another Cobra on his
first lap leaves him having to claw his way back through the field to
regain position. This is an edited version of his first of two races from
Saturday, August 20, 2011. The cars in this race are all part of Group 7A,
1963-1966 GT cars over 2500cc. Jim's car is #59, a 1964 Cobra 289 USRRC
Mike Sweeney qualifying practice in SCCA Spec Racer Ford Laguna Seca
Ride along with Pacific Throttle House racing driver and coach Mike Sweeney
doing a few laps in Final Practice for the SCCA Enduro. Car was a little
down on power (the engine hadn't been touched for 13 YEARS of racing! Talk
about reliable!), but had pretty decent pace. Best lap was a 1:45.5,
despite me totally screwing up Turn 9 trying a different line. First time
driving one of these things, they're really fun!
2009 SCCA Touring 2 National at Lime Rock - 350Z vs. EVO
Highlights of the Touring 2 SCCA National at Lime Rock - August 1, 2009.
The Mitsubishi EVO starts on the pole with Brian Kleeman in the 350Z
(camera car) on the outside. David Brand in a Supercharged Lotus Elise
chases from behind.
Notice the motor in the 350Z starts dying by Lap 3.
The race is stopped and ends under a red-flag when Ken Payson's Spec Miata
hits the spun-out Lotus head on. David Brand was treated and released that
same day; as of Monday, Ken remains in the hospital. A full recovery is
expected, but thoughts and prayers nonetheless.
Laguna Seca Mini Cooper vs Porsches Vintage Race
This is the beginning of the race on Tuesday, July 7 before I broke what we
think was a drop gear (haven't pulled the motor yet). Had a good scrap with
a few Porsches before it all went bad. Great turn out for HMSA LSR for this
vintage race. Wish the car had held together. But better to have a problem
now, rather than the next race, which will be the 2011 Monterey Historics
(Monterey Motorsports Reunion as it's called now). We'll be fixed up and
running again before the race in August.
LA Grand Prix Shelby GT350 Cobra street race
LA Grand Prix 2000. Driver Manny Samaniego, in-car camera, driving an
original Shelby GT350 #1159. In first place Charlie Soloman, in second
place the black Mustang Dan
Luckow. This clip is from the green Flag. 3 Laps until Soloman hits the
wall HARD! Manny misses him by inches. Soloman bounced off the outside wall
and ends up on the inside wall and walked away very LUCKY! Also notice how
Samaniego never takes his foot off the gas in the first turn and drifts
inches from the wall!
