1968 SS 427 Impala - Cool Cars, Hot Cars, Fast Cars
If you like hard to find full size SS cars, this one's for you! Though the Chevy Impala was one of the most popular full size cars during the late 50s to mid 60s, the Super Sport option, offered from 1967 to 1969, was never given much fanfare by Chevrolet. The result was very few orders. This 1968 SS 427 Impala is truly a rarity on the road. http://www.coolcarsvideo.com 1968 SS 427 Impala - Cool Cars, Hot Cars, Fast Cars All the exotic cars, muscle cars, and performance cars you can imagine have shown up here - or will. 2004 Corvette Z06 - Cool Cars, Hot Cars, Fast Cars
2004 Corvette Z06 Just your run-o-the-mill badass Z06 roadster. The C5 Corvette was literally built differently than all GM products leading up to 1997. 0.29 drag in the wind tunnel. D.I.C. which could read diagnostic codes and display them for the driver without a computer. Constructing the frame rails with a process called Hydroforming. Replacing 14 parts used in the structural integrity of the C4 helping reducing the C5's weight by 68 pounds. Hydroforming also alleviated the tall frame rails for the C5 making it less of a chore to enter and exit then the C4. You had to carefully step over the frame so you wouldn't scrape the interior carpet with your shoes or worse stiletto heals. I thought it was unique and missed it in the C5. Third-generation LS1 V8 was overhauled to an all-aluminum block, utilizing ignition coils replacing the distributor of all previous small-block engines and new cylinder firing order. Rated at 345 bhp and 350 lbs. ft. With 28 mpg highway mileage it avoided the gas guzzler tax. Another trend set by Corvette was Run Flats Tires became standard equipment in 1997. The most important of all refinements was the transmission being moved to the rear of the car right between the wheels aptly named trans-axle. Of course the significance of this was Corvette now had a more even distribution weight to the tune of 51% in front 48% in back. This may not seem like a big deal now but in 1997 as a gearhead or an American auto enthusiast you knew what they meant for the C5...Poising GM to enter and compete in the Super Car market. My personal favorite accommodation was the introduction of the Fixed Roof Coupe for 1999. There was a rumor back in the day that Chevy was entertaining the idea of offering a striped down model of the Corvette allegedly nicknaming it The Poor Man's Corvette. This was how the Fixed Roof Coupe would fit into the future stable of Corvettes. To be honest this wasn't such a bad idea as far as my circle of fiends were concerned, a no frills V8 Muscle Car would have been a welcomed turnaround for the American automotive enthusiast...It may have even made a Corvette buyer out of them. But, it didn't happen. What did happen was in 2001 Chevrolet used the Fix Roof Coupe body style too debut the most impressive Vehicle GM ever envisioned...2004 Corvette Z06 with the heart stopping LS6 hammering out 385 bhp and 385 lb·ft. The FE4 suspension calibrated toward high speed operation was developed for Z06 and not available on other Corvette models. 2004 Corvette Z06 boasted 405 horsepower. However, dynamometer tests have shown that GM underrated the LS6 by 20 horsepower giving it a total of 425 asphalt splitting horsepower and a missile screaming 412 foot pounds of torque. 1.90 second from 0 to 60 mph. This 3,074 pound badass can shear through the quarter mile in 11.97 second, bone stock at 118.80 mph. http://www.coolcarsvideo.com 2004 Corvette Z06 - Cool Cars, Hot Cars, Fast Cars http://www.cool-cars-video.com cool cars, hot cars, fast cars, dream cars, Cool Cars Video offers a feast for the eyes as well as insight from car enthusiasts about owning these cool street machines. 1967 Chevy Chevelle Malibu - Cool Cars, Hot Cars, Fast Cars
The Chevelle got a mild facelift for 1967, but GM had big plans. A whole new look was blueprinted for the 1968 Chevelle, so changes were kept perfectly minimal for 1967. GM introduced the updated 1967 Chevelle to the American youth, who by this time had a wide variety of brands to choose from, with the ad copy: "What you'll see inside will probably bring on a severe compulsion to go driving". The competition was getting hot. Even in GM's own stable, with the debut of the Camaro and it's cousin, Pontiac Firebird. Ford broadened it's appeal with the Mercury Cougar, based on the immensely popular Mustang. And that's just the pony car class. Mid-sized machines were getting even more explosive. The GTO was still king of the muscle cars, but growing in size, price, and standard options. While youngsters couldn't afford that level of sophistication, other fortresses were being debuted for them. The 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T, was advertised with the adolescent in mind: "You read it right. R means Road. And T means Track. And that means R/T from Dodge." The new 1967 Dodge Charger was avant-garde and awkward looking, but boasted: "Turn up the wick and you're gone, man, gone." Not to mention Barracuda, the redesigned combatant from Plymouth. Interestingly, it's new good looks were accused of being dated. The Ford Fairlane was being promoted to it's now grown up buyers. Although a serious competitor to Chevelle in the battle for street supremacy, Fairlane declared: "It's a family-sized sports car with enormous talents." That kind of advertising, along with orderly body lines, didn't have the appeal teenagers would respond to, basically giving the Chevelle a clear advantage among the youth market. The Chevelle maintained it's popularity during the great bombardment of muscle-machines invading the streets. http://www.cool-cars-video.com 1967 Chevy Chevelle Malibu - Cool Cars, Hot Cars, Fast Cars Cool Cars Video offers a feast for the eyes as well as insight from car enthusiasts about owning these cool street machines. 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7 Coupe GT 6.5 litre (390 Big Block)
Have had this project for some time now, and don't have the time it deserves to be put into it. This is a very very rare car. Most of the Cougars you may find have the 289 ci V8. This car has the 390 big block -The power is unbelievable. Back in the day, Ford marketed the Mustang "for the man starting out", the Mercury Cougar was marketed as for "the man who was on his way". (The Thunderbird was marketed for "the man who had arrived") Car is unbelievably powerful, pulls rubber in all 3 gears. I have had the car for a long time, started it several times every year. But it is time to let it go to a good home. This is a numbers matching authentic S code 390 Cougar XR7. These are unique and beautiful cars. 1968 Mercury Cougar idling Magnaflow 284H12 cam
My Cougar, warming up on a just above freezing February morning. With 284H12 Crane cam and new 2.5" Magnaflow system on long tub headers, he now sounds pretty aggressive. The old system was a bit restrictive. now with K&N filter and Exhaust, he's drawing more air through the Holley DP, so he running fast. Good job there's a rolling road Dyno about 20 foot away from this parking space, and a jet/pump kit in my toolbox!
