Top Gear - VW Beetle Vs Porsche 911 - Drag Race!
A recording with my phone of the Beetle vs porsche drag race. This is definitly my favourite top gear moment, i love the science behind this race. The porsche can accelerate to 160+ MPH on land whilst the Beetle can only reach terminal velocity (125mph). It is a race to 125mph and then the porsche can pick up time. Amazing and well shot. after a 3 month build in preparation for Warwick VW drags 2011 , Chris Boltons' new drag bug is put on the Dyno for tuning . The 2387ml type-1 engine is fitted with a t04-e turbo and a 45mm side draught weber carb . The weber carb has been heavily modified for methanol race fuel . It produced 238hp @ the tyres

BlackLine Racing 127mph run in a Bug World Of Speed 2011
This is an in-car video of our second run at World Of Speed 2011. Justin was barely able to keep it straight out of the gates, and we began to drop a cylinder at the 3/4 mile mark course in fourth gear. We ran 114mph at the half mile, and even though we were dropping a cylinder we still ran a 127.5mph in the mile. We ran 2 more runs after this, both slower, and found out that a piece of the head had blown out due to being too thin. We were running a 2332 built from an AS41 case, highly modified 041 head castings, Scat 42X37.5 valves, Auto-Craft 1.4:1 rockers, Scat C75 cam and lightweight lifters (resurfaced by Steve Long Racing Cams), Scat dual valve springs, Mahle 94mm pistons and cylinders custom valve relieved, Scat 84mm Crankshaft and Rods, 1 5/'8" Empi Merged Header, Weber 48 IDA's.
