1973 Maverick Grabber 332 Stroker first test drive

This is the first test drive of an 8 month build. It's a very clean 1973 Maverick Grabber that has been converted to a top loader 4 speed. The engine is a 332 Scat Stroker, with Dart Aluminum heads, roller cam, MSD, etc. During the build we also installed an SSBC 4 wheel disc brake conversion. My wife was trying to film the "maiden voyage" and the camcorder batteries went dead. She was relegated to the front porch using the AC adapter. We will get it out on the road for more footage soon....

Driving the 1971 Ford Maverick From Fast Five
Here in the United States the Ford Maverick is remembered, if it's remembered at all, as the car that replaced Ford's original compact, the Falcon, back in 1970. Lynn's Maverick.dv
This is an update from a winter of rebuilding Lynn's 1973 Maverick Grabber. It's a 332 stroker motor with lots of goodies. It runs really well on the street and with the Top Loader 4 speed, is a blast to drive. We took the car to a local drag strip with a few friends. After our first pass we immediately noticed that we had some carb, or fuel issues. On the second pass, some teeth on the flywheel gave way causing some difficulty in getting it started. With the new slicks, the Maverick was really hooking up, which will take some getting used to (much more RPM.) Overall, it was a fun evening. We'll have to yank the tranny over the winter and replace the ring gear, and do a little tweaking. On Lynn's last run, he pulled out a 13.98 at just under 100 MPH. I think with some tuning, the car is capable of a 12 second pass. We'll see.......
